LEVERIAN "LEVERN" LEE KING, 99, passed from this life
on Jan. 15, 2014 in Ranger, TX, with interment at
Evergreen Cemetery at Ranger.
She was born to J.B. & Tinnie Lee on Nov. 15, 1914 in
Eden, TX. She grew up in Ranger where she graduated
from Ranger High School in 1932 and was voted prettiest.
Also met the love of her life Clarence King (RHS-1931),
they were sweethearts since they were sixteen.
Mothers’ dad and mom had a farm next to my dads’ family
farm and my dad rode his horse over to visit mother. After
they married, they moved to West Texas and spent most of
their married life in Odessa, TX. Levern worked for Dr.
Leach and Sinclair Oil Company in Odessa.
They were wonderful parents and instilled good values in
their family. They had two daughters Doris Nell & Marjorie
Carole.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence E. King,
daughter Doris Nell Betts and husband J.W. Betts, parents,
J.B. & Tinnie Lee, grandson Eddie Betts.
At the time of her death, she was survived by her daughter,
Marjorie Carole Smith and husband Ronald J. Smith of Odessa,
grandchildren; Montie Smith & wife Shelia of Odessa; Michael
Smith and wife Sandy of Odessa, great grandchildren, Zachary
Smith, Kaylea Smith, Baylea Smith & Kendall Smith; J.W. “Bud”
Betts (wife Theresa) of Dayton, TX, Jan Kilgore (husband John)
of Crosby, TX, Shari Alexander (husband Scott) of Crosby, TX,
Randy Betts (wife Laura) of Oklahoma City, OK. She leaves 7
great-grand-children and 13 great-great-grandchildren. One
niece Yvonne Blackburn.
She was a wonderful cook and even though she always worked
outside the home she was an immaculate house keeper and loved
her pretty yard. She was amazing and tried very hard to do as
God wanted.
