MAVIS VIRGINIA MURRAY SMITH, 79, of Corpus
Christi, TX, wife of former mayor, Farrell Dee Smith,
died on May 4, 1999.
She was born May 3, 1920 to Walter & Blanche Murray.
Mavis attended Ranger High School in the Class of
1936 at Ranger, TX. She was a member of the Bayside
Garden Club, the Symphony Guild, A.A.U.W., and the
Daughters of the American Revolution. Her siblings
were Doris Murray (RHS-1930), Catherine Murray Houghton
(RHS-1942), & Marlyn Murray Bell (RHS-1944).
Survivors include three daughters, Carol Sylvia
Smith of Austin, Sharon Smith of Austin, and Karen
Smith of Richardson, TX, and a son, Farrell M.
Smith, of Corpus Christi Texas; five grandchildren,
and three great-grandchildren.
Mavis was a strikingly beautiful, intelligent woman
and created beauty in her home and gardens, and in
many other ways. She was dearly loved and will be
very much missed by her family and many friends.
