BILLY JOE TURNER, 92, of El Paso, TX, died on
Feb. 19, 2013, with interment at Fort Bliss
Cemetery.
He was born in Eastland County, TX, June 2, 1920,
to James Layne & Myrtle Turner. He was an Eagle
Scout and graduated from Ranger High School in
1938 at Ranger, TX. In 1940, he arrived in
Washington, D.C. where he worked for the FBI,
then served in the U.S. Navy. He fell in love
with Nadine Leathers & they married in 1942 in
D.C. They recently celebrated their 70th wedding
anniversary. After the war, he received his
master's degree in Commercial Science from
Southeastern University.
Bill and his family moved to Albuquerque in the
fifties where he worked for a new gas pipeline
company, Pacific Northwest. EPNG bought this
company and the family moved to El Paso in 1962.
Bill worked and retired from EPNG's Treasury
Department in 1982. They left El Paso & retired
to Granbury, TX, where Bill spent many happy days
on the golf course. In 1992, they returned to El
Paso, where he continued with his love of golf.
Bill Turner enjoyed his life--great fishing trips
with great friends, his family, his wife, conver-
sation, good food, pets, laughter and telling
stories.
Bill Turner is survived by his wife, Nadine, and
daughters, Paula & Laura.
DAUGHTER: PAULA JO TURNER, 73, of El Paso, TX
was born on July 27, 1946 in Ranger, TX. She was
the daughter of Billy J. & Nadine L. Turner. Paula
passed away in El Paso, TX on Feb. 21, 2020 after a
battle with pancreatic cancer. She is survived by
her sister Laura Turner and her life-long friend
Elaine Lewis.
Paula was a life-long lover of art and books, an
avid reader from childhood up to the end. She
enjoyed collecting paintings and sculptures and
exploring estate sales in search of finds.
She had many interests in her life. She loved cats
and birds and all the backyard wildlife, even the
skunks and especially the foxes. She loved all kinds
of music and live entertainment that included Broadway
shows and local productions. She was an avid shopper
who loved shoes, jewelry, sun glasses, sharp clothes
and a great bargain. To everyone's surprise Paula
became active in Weights & Conditioning, Yoga and
Tai Chi (she loved her sword).
She had many friends who are going to miss her quick
wit and kindness. After four decades of teaching art
she always enjoyed running into former students.
Fortunately she had many encounters.
