CORVIS L. BECK, 87, of Ranger, TX passed away on
June 30, 2009, with burial in Bullock Cemetery near
Ranger.
Corvis was born on September 17, 1921 in Goldthwaite,
TX, to Charlie Ely & Lena Otha (Nix) Beck. He was a
graduate of Ranger High School at Ranger, TX. Corvis
married Alta Ileane Carney in July of 1941 and she
preceded him in death on April 4, 2006. He entered
the US Army during WWII from 1944-1945. Corvis lived
in Palmdale, CA, for 16 years & was very active in the
church, also as a Deacon & Sunday School Director as
well as the First Baptist Church in Ranger. Corvis
worked as a Service Manager for Levelle Motor Company
for 10 years in Ranger, & 19 years Lancaster Ford at
Motor Company in Lancaster, CA. He also worked for
Douglas Aircraft for 4 years & Rockwell International
for 2 years. He was on the farm and ranch from 1978-
2006. Corvis was preceded in death by a son Ardie Beck
in 1998.
Survivors include: a son Keith L. Beck and wife Cheryl
of Pleasanton, CA, sister, Maxine Calvert, grandchildren;
Adam, Laura, Chelsey, Cameron and Heather, great-grand-
children Sammy, Matthew, Abigail, Emily, Jessica, Austin,
and Patrick, and several nieces and nephews.
WIFE: ALTA ILEANE CARNEY BECK, 83, of Ranger, TX passed
away on April 6, 2006, with burial in Bullock Cemetery
near Ranger, TX.
Ileane was born on Jan. 16, 1923, in Lowell, AR, to
Roy R. & Patty Lee Cowan Carney. She married Corvis
Beck (RHS-1939) in July of 1941, in Hawthorne, CA. She
graduated from Antelope Valley College in Lancaster, CA.
and University of Redlands in Redlands, CA. Her graduate
study was completed at the University of Illinois and
the University of Redlands. She spent 32 years in education,
as school librarian for Palmdale California School District,
Antelope Valley High District, Ranger Elementary School and
Ranger College. She was a former member of the Delta Kappa
Gamma, Etera Child Welfare Association, New Era Club, Scout
Den Mother, a life member of the California Teachers Association,
life member of Alpha Gamma Sigma, and a member of the Bullock
Quilting Club. Ileane was a member of the First Baptist Church
since 1947 and served in many church duties; from director of
children's departments to filling the pulpit on Sunday when the
pastor was ill and couldn't get a substitute. She loved teaching
the bible, and taught several discipleship classes at church in
California and church in Texas. She was active many years in
W.M.U. and Training Union. Ileane loved to cook, decorate cakes
and make homemade bread. Ileane was preceded in death by her
parents, a son Ardie in 1998, brothers Charles, William, and
Kenneth and a sister Annabelle.
Ileane is survived by her husband of 64 years Corvis Beck of
Ranger, a son Keith L. Beck and wife Cheryl of Pleasanton, CA,
a sister Mary Jane Head of El Cajon, CA. Grandchildren Adam,
Laura, Chelsey, Cameron and Heather. Great-grandchildren;
Sammy, Matthew, Abigail, Emily, Jessica, Austin, and Patrick,
along with numerous nieces and nephews.
