OWEN ED ROSE, 80, formerly of Ranger, TX died
on July 19, 2000 in Eastland, TX, with burial in the
Evergreen Cemetery at Ranger, TX.
Mr. Rose grew up around Ranger and attended school
there. He joined the U.S Army and served six years
in the last Calvary Corps. He was then transferred
to Military Police, until being discharged because
of injuries.
He married Beatrice West in 1943 and worked as head
electrician for Diabol for 10 years, and later owned
and operated a ranch. He was a member of First Baptist
Church of Ranger, the Disabled American veterans,
American Legion, Eastland County Sheriff's Posse,
Veterans of Foreign War II, Eastland County React
Club and the Ranger Exes Association.
Survivors at the time of his death include his wife,
Beatrice, of Ranger; three daughters, Carolyn Rose
Braddock (RHS-1963), Neita Rose Melton (RHS-1966),
both of Ranger, Shirley Rose Cole (RHS-1969) of
Washington State; one son, Johnny Rose (RHS-1967) of
Ranger; two sisters, Maurene Rose Bratton of Ranger,
Colene Rose Tenny of Gorman; one step-sister, Edith
Belyeu of Breckenridge; two brothers, J.C. Rose,
Marrien Rose, both of Ranger; 10 grandchildren;
eight great-grandchildren; three step-great-grand-
children.
WIFE: BEATRICE LOUISE WEST ROSE, 81, formerly
of Ranger, TX died on Sept. 27, 2006, with burial
in Evergreen Cemetery.
Mrs. Rose was born in Laurel, MS, on Sept. 6, 1925
to Porter & Willie West. She married Owen Ed Rose
(RHS-1940) in 1943 in Laurel. He preceded her in
death in 2000. She was a member of the Ranger General
Hospital Auxiliary in 1974 and of the Ranger Exes
Association & a lifetime member of the DAV Auxiliary.
She enjoyed reading and all types of hand work.
Survivors at the time of her death include three
daughters, Carolyn and her husband Clyde Braddock,
Shirley (RHS-1969) and her husband Jimmy Cole (RHS-
1969) and Neita Melton of Ranger, one son Johnny
and his wife Joy Rose of Granbury, her mother
Willie West, & four brothers, Roy and wife Daisy
Nell, Harold and wife Lecia West, Robert and wife
Barbara West, and Haskel West, 10 grandchildren;
15 great-grandchildren; and 3 step-great-grand-
children.
BROTHER: J.C. "RED" ROSE, 84, of Ranger, TX died
Dec. 10, 2001 at his home.
Mr Rose was born on Feb. 17, 1917 in Baird, TX, to James
C. & Ramie (Simmons) Rose. He graduated from Baird High
School and attended Police Academy. He worked for the
City of Ranger first as a patrolman and later as Chief
of Police for some 28 years. He was a past member of
Oddfellows & Royal Neighbors and attended the Church of
Christ.
Survivors at the time of his death are one daughter,
Margaret Greene of Olney; one brother, Marvin Rose of
Ranger; two sisters Susie Maurine Bratton of Ranger
and Colene Tenney of Gorman; a step-sister, Edith Blue
of Breckenridge; two grandson, Kevin Dumith of Dallas
and Shayne Dumith of Olney; one great-grandson, Zack
Dumith of Olney; several nieces and nephews; and a
very special friend, Leon Stewart of Ranger.
