DR. BETTYE JO JONES SHIPMAN, 74, died June 4, 1999
in Abilene, TX, with burial in the Garden of Memories
Cemetery.
Dr. Shipman was born on May 8, 1925 at Ranger, TX
where she was raised and educated, graduating from
Ranger High School in 1941. She married Richard
Shipman in March of 1946, in Ranger. She was a
member of the First Christian Church and a former
member of the church choir, pianist for evening
services, & served as President of CWF.
Graduating from Carver Chiropractic College in 1949,
Dr. Shipman served as a member of the College faculty
until moving to Sweetwater in 1953, and opening a
private practice. She also was an active member of
the Texas Chiropractic Association and served on
various statewide committees as well as being a past
president of District 7 TCA. Dr. Shipman retired
in 1990.
Survivors at the time of her death include her husband,
Dr. Richard Shipman of Sweetwater; a daughter, Tona
Shipman of Lubbock; one granddaughter, Katrina Martin
of Lubbock; and three great-grandchildren, Noel Garza,
Anthony Garza, and Kolleen Martin.
