LEE ROY PEARSON, JR., 72, was born on May 16,
1924 in Ranger, TX & died Aug. 27, 1996. He was in the
Ranger High School Class of 1941. He was the son of
Vera Blair & Lee Roy Pearson, longtime Ranger residents.
He lived in Eastland at the time of his death and
was buried at Evergreen Cemetery in Ranger, TX. He
was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Champ Pearson
(RHS-1951), a sister, Lynn Pearson Heath (RHS-1943),
and his parents.
Survivors include three sisters, Electra Pearson (RHS-
1939), who resides in Ranger; Mercedes Pearson (RHS-1943)
in Brownfield, & Beth Pearson Cosper in Odessa. His wife,
Flo Pearson who resides in Eastland. Their children are,
Lee Roy, Jr. (RHS-1966), Jane (RHS-1969), Beth Pearson Lund
RHS-1971), Jack Pearson (RHS-1974), & Frank Pearson (RHS-
1979). He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He attended
Ranger Jr. College and before entering the service, worked
for his father in the oil fields.
WIFE: FLORINE DORIS ELAM PEARSON, 93, of
Eastland, TX passed away May 11, 2015, with burial in
Evergreen Cemetery at Ranger, TX.
Florine Doris Pearson was born to John L. & Della D.
B. Elam September 28, 1921, in Leonard, TX and moved
with her family to Wichita Falls in 1925 where she
grew up. She was an “A” student and loved drawing.
After graduating from Wichita Falls High School in
1939 she entered Hardin Jr. College (now Midwestern
State). During World War II Florine did much volunteer
work for hospitals, her church, and the U.S.O. She
graduated with an art degree from the University of
Texas, in 1948. At Austin, Florine married Lee Roy
Pearson Jr. (RHS-1941) in 1947 and moved to Ranger,
TX ten years later, where she joined the 1947 Book
Club and the bridge club. She won first prize in a
community pecan pie baking contest. Florine taught
art at Ranger College for two years (1962-64). After
raising kids she attended numerous art workshops
and traveled. In 2009 Florine moved to the Woodlands
Assisted Living home (Eastland, TX) and continued
painting. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles,
reading books, growing tomatoes, feeding humming
birds, and visits from grandchildren and great-
grandchildren. She was a tough survivor of the
depression, but had a soft heart, a keen sense of
humor, and loved Christ, family, and her very dear
grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Florine is preceded in death by her husband, Lee
Roy Pearson, Jr.; her stepsisters, Sylvia M. Hertel
and Theresa B. Taylor; brothers, Eugene M. Elam &
John L. Elam Jr.; and sister Alpha D. Holton.
Florine is survived by her children: Lee Roy Pearson
III and wife, Marci; Jane and husband, Jim Adams;
Beth and husband, Craig Lund; Jack Pearson; Frank
E. Pearson. Her brother, Ira D. Elam and sisters;
Barbara S. Elam and Cheryl L. Elam; grandsons, Ben
Lund, Travis Adams, and Ty Adams and wife Jaime,
granddaughters, J’ Lynn Adams Bowlin and husband
Chris, Barbara Lund and Rebecca Pearson; great-
grandchildren Lane, Lyla Jane and Lawson C. Adams,
and 22 nephews and nieces.
