MELBA LOIS BRIMBERRY GRAVES, 82, of Abilene, TX
passed away April 19, 2006, with burial at Elliott-
Hamil Garden of Memories.
Born on Jan. 15, 1924, in Ranger, TX, Melba was the
daughter of the late Arch and Lola (Anderson) Brimberry.
After graduating from Ranger High School, and when
World War II broke out, Melba and her aunt went to
Washington DC and worked for the Navy Department for
a year. Afterward, they returned home and Melba moved
to Abilene with her mother. Melba met Douglas Graves
in 1945 and they were married in Albany, TX, in 1946.
They have lived all of their married life in Abilene,
where they have been members of Southern Hills Church
of Christ for many years.
Melba is survived by her husband of almost 60 years,
Douglas Graves of Abilene; two sisters, Adele Grounds
(RHS-1939) of Hobbs, NM, and Dean Cole of Abilene;
along with many nieces and nephews.
SISTER: NADINE "DEAN" BRIMBERY COLE, 82, passed
away Sept. 3, 2011, at her residence, with burial
in Elmwood Memorial Park at Abilene, TX.
Nadine was born April 9, 1929 to Lola (Anderson) and
William (W.A.) Brimberry in Ranger, TX. She moved
to Abilene, TX in 1942 & married Aubrey Ray Cole
in July of 1946 in Abilene. Nadine was an active
member of Calvary Baptist Church since 1950. She was
preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Melba
Graves (RHS-1941).
Survivors include her husband, Aubrey Cole of Abilene;
a son, Ray Cole and wife, Carol, of Fort Worth, TX;
a daughter, Lynette O'Neal and husband, Robert, of
Abilene; a sister, Adele Grounds (RHS-1939) of Hobbs,
NM; a sister-in-law, Feddy Button of Abilene; seven
grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
