KATHERINE ELIZABETH ADAMS BROTHERS, 86, a retired
teacher, passed away June 18, 2012 in Kingwood, TX,
with interment in Burleson Memorial Park at Burleson.
Katherine was born May 19, 1926, in Ranger, TX to
Horace Greeley Adams Sr. & Irene Vaughn Adams. She
attended Ranger High School in the Class of 1942.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend.
Katherine was a teacher for Burleson ISD for 35
years. She loved traveling and church. Katherine
was a member of several teaching organizations and
of First Baptist Church of Burleson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Brothers;
her parents; brother, H.G. Adams Jr. (RHS-1943); and
son, John Brothers.
Survivors at the time of her death: sons, Jim Brothers
and wife, Patty, of Arlington, Joe Brothers and wife,
Vangie, of Flower Mound; daughter, Julie Rice & husband,
Buddy, of Kingwood; daughter-in-law, Esther Brothers of
Burleson; grandchildren, Lauren Brothers, Ashlynn Brothers,
Brittany Rice, Cooper Rice, Amber Brothers and Courtney
Brothers; and extended family and friends.
HUSBAND: JIM EARL BROTHERS, 72, a retired barber, died
April 18, 2000 in Burleson, TX, with burial was there
in Burleson Memorial Park.
Jim Brothers, a long-time Burleson resident, was born on
April 19, 1927, in Strawn, TX, and a 1945 graduate of
Strawn High School. He was a World War II veteran, having
served in the U.S. Navy. He married Katherine Adams (RHS-
1942) in Ranger, TX, in August of 1953.
Survivors at the time of his death: wife, Katherine Brothers
of Burleson; sons, James A Brothers and his wife, Patty, of
Arlington, John H. Brothers of Fort Worth and Joe Brothers
of Dallas; daughter, Julie E. Rice and her husband, Buddy
of Humble; brother Bob E. Brothers of Dallas, and grand-
children, Lauren Brothers of Arlington and Brittany and
Cooper Rice of Humble.
