ROBERTA LANDTROOP SMITH, 75, died in her sleep on
May 17, 2001, with interment in Chapel Hill Memorial
Park.
Mrs. Smith was born Dec. 2, 1925, in Ranger, TX. She
attended Ranger Jr. College. She moved to Waco and
married J.C. Patterson and had two children, Steven
& Cynthia. She settled in Waco and was employed as a
bookkeeper with Texas National Bank until she divorced.
She then married Bill D. Smith and had another child,
William. She was involved in many community activities.
She worked at Bellmead Community Center Library for
several years and helped Irene Koen feed the Bellmead
Lions Club after their weekly meeting.
Robert Hawkins, Mayor of Bellmead, proclaimed May 19,
2001 as a Day of Mourning in the City of Bellmead in
memory of Roberta Smith.
At the time of her death, she is survived by her sister,
Maxine Morris (RHS-1949) of Beeville, TX; brother,
Raymond "Bud" Landtroop (RHS-1938) of San Antonio;
daughter, Cynthia Phillips of Carrollton; son, William
Smith and wife Deborah of Bellmead; and grandchildren,
John Phillips, Kathryn Phillips and Heather Smith.
