HAROLD WADE BREWER, 75, was born in Abilene,
TX, on May 15, 1926 & moved at an early age with
his family to Ranger, TX, where he attended Merriman
& Young schools, graduating from Ranger High School
in 1943. Her married Ella Joy Ferris (RHS-1944).
They lived in Napa, CA, where he worked in a
shipyard until he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in
May of 1944. After boot camp training at San
Diego he served aboard the USS Lycoming, APA, a
troop transport ship, serving in the Pacific
during WWII. He was on one of the first ships
to visit Japan after the atomic bombs were dropped.
Discharged from the Navy in 1946, he returned to
Napa before moving to Torrance, CA, where he was
employed for 33 years by American Standard Heating
and Plumbing as a bathroom fixtures caster. Upon
retirement, they returned to Napa for 14 years and
then moved to Wildomar, CA, in 1995.
His hobbies were woodworking, gardening, fishing
and travel. He was a member of the VFW and of the
Church of Christ in Lake Elsinore.
He died of kidney failure in 2001 and was buried at
Wildomar Cemetery. At the time of his death, he was
survived by his wife of 57 years, Ella Joy Brewer;
two sons, Robert of Torrance and Richard of Wildomar.
Five grandchildren & two sisters, Mona Brewer Rawlins
(RHS-1939) and Margie Brewer Ritchey, both of Napa.
SISTER: MARJORIE LOUISE BREWER RITCHIE, 77,
was the daughter of Mary Lucille Lindley & Marth
Brewer & was born Jan. 31, 1930. She died at Napa,
CA, on April 9, 2007. She was married to Woodrow P.
Ritchie and they had five children, all boys. She
had two brothers, Harold Wade and Gearald Martin
Brewer who were in the Class of 1943 and a sister,
Mona Vee Brewer Rawlins (RHS-1939). Marjorie may
have attended Ranger High School but her class is
unknown.
