CLAUDE AUDREY RODGERS, 96 of Ranger,
TX passed away on Jan. 3, 2022, with burial
in Evergreen Cemetery at Ranger.
He was born on Feb. 14, 1925 in Ranger to Clyde
Montgomery Rodgers and Myrtle Lucinda (Baker)
Rodgers. After graduating from Ranger High
School in the Class of 1943, he entered the
military. He married Lela Mae Griffith in
March of 1955 in Ranger. She preceded him in
death in 2008. He was also preceded in death
by a brother, Woodie Rodgers, and 2 daughters,
Delores Rodgers and Linda Weeaks.
He was a member of Second Baptist Church in
Ranger where he served as a Deacon. He retired
from EBAA Iron, enjoyed doing yard work, drawing
and whittling, and especially loved his Dr.
Peppers and shortbread cookies.
Survivors include 2 sons, Roy Rodgers (RHS-1977)
and wife Wendy, and Gilbert Rodgers (RHS-1980)
and wife Sharmon; 1 daughter, Nelda Rodgers
(RHS-1978); 9 grandchildren; and 10 great-grand-
children.
WIFE: LELA MAE GRIFFITH RODGERS, 74,
passed away Jan. 16, 200, with burial in Evergreen
Cemetery at Ranger, TX.
Lela was born in Pueblo, TX, on Oct. 5, 1933 to
John (Leslie) & Ida Ruth (Gann) Griffith. She was
raised and attended school in Moran. She later met
and married Claude Audrey Rodgers (RHS-1943) in March
of 1955 in Ranger. In 1962 they made their home in the
Ranger community. Lela worked for Quality Food Market,
the Five & Dime, Ben Franklins, Ranger Athletic and
even a period of time at the Ranger Hospital. She
worked at Ranger School Cafeteria for 20 years. She
was always involved in the elections around Ranger
helping to count votes. She was a member of the
Second Baptist Church & was involved in the activities
there. She loved to sew and crochet.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter
Delores, and a brother Gene.
She is survived by her husband Audrey; two daughters,
Linda Weeaks and Nelda Poulson (RHS-1978); two sons,
Roy (RHS-1977) and Gilbert Rodgers (RHS-1980) both of
Ranger; a sister Betty Polk; 13 grandchildren and 3
great-grandchildren with another on the way.
DAUGHTER: LINDA KAY RODGERS WEEAKS, 70,
of Ranger, TX passed away Dec. 20, 2021, with burial in
the Evergreen Cemetery at Ranger.
She was born Dec. 19, 1951 in Gorman, TX to Claude Audrey
Rodgers & Lela Mae Griffith Rodgers. She lived most of her
life in Ranger. After graduating high school from Texas
School for the Deaf, she became a seamstress. She worked
at Eastlander Design in Eastland. She was a member of the
2nd Baptist Church in Ranger, as well as the Deaf Club in
Dallas.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lela Mae Griffith;
and sister, Deloris Rodgers.
Survivors include her father, Claude Rodgers; a son, Shane
Weeaks and wife Tifanie; 2 brothers, Roy Rodgers and wife
Wendy, and Gilbert Rodgers & wife Sharmon; a sister, Nelda
Rodgers; 5 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
