W.K. "DUB" COOPER, 85, of The Woodlands in Eastland,
TX died Feb. 12, 2013, in Fort Worth, TX.
Mr. Cooper was born Oct. 21, 1927, in Ranger, TX, to
Ellis & Carrie (Waggoner) Cooper. He graduated from
Ranger High School in 1945 and served in the U.S.
Army in Japan during the end of World War II. After-
wards, he received an associate's degree from Ranger
Jr. College.
He was employed by Texas Electric Service Co. for 34
years as a commercial and customer representative,
most of that time in Breckenridge, where he also
served as City Commissioner and president of the
Breckenridge Rotary Club and Breckenridge High School
Band Booster Club. He coached Little League baseball
and girl's softball, was a member of the Stephens
County Sheriff's Posse & authored "A Cowboy Chronicle:
100 (Mostly True) Tales of Life in Rural Texas."
Mr. Cooper is preceded in death by his parents, sisters
Norene Cooper Rourke (RHS-1937) & Geneva Jane Cooper
Ham (RHS-1942), and his beloved wife, Estrella
Mehaffey Cooper.
He will be missed by his son Stevan, daughter-in-law
Diane, and grandchildren Evan and Alia of Colorado
Springs, CO; daughter Connie Post of Dayton, OH; and
sister Marian Cooper Riggs (RHS-1939) of Hubbard, TX.
