HERMAN LEROY BLACKWELL, 87, went to be with the
Lord on Nov. 20, 2015, surrounded by family, with
interment in Emerald Hills Memorial Park at Kennedale,
TX.
Herman Blackwell was born on June 2, 1928 to Elmer &
Ruby Blackwell in Ranger, TX. and grew up in Ranger
graduating from Ranger high School in 1945. He married
Lucy Lee Medlin in Aug. of 1960 in Alamogrdo, NM and
they had one son, Lyndon Bryan Blackwell.
Herman served several years in the Army Medical Core
during the Korean War and continued to server our
country until 1962. Herman spent many happy years
working in the hotel industry until he retired in
1993. He often spoke of how he met all kinds of
famous people and how much he enjoyed meeting new
people all the time.
Herman was an active member in his church for many
years. He loved Jesus and was a true servant of the
Lord in all he did. Herman lead his life by the
scriptures which he read daily and many times you
could hear him singing hymns of praise and praying
to worship the God he loved so much.
Herman was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Lee
Blackwell; parents, Elmer and Ruby Blackwell; sister,
Maurine Eastland.
Survivors: Son, Lyndon Bryan Blackwell and wife Nancy;
granddaughter Ashley Newton and husband Ronald; great-
granddaughter, Haley Newton all of Hurst, TX. ; brothers,
Ray Blackwell of Abilene, TX, Ed Blackwell and wife
Virginia of Panhandle, TX, Virgil Blackwell (RHS-1961)
and wife Dixie of Iowa Park, TX; sister, June Blackwell
Ice (RHS-1950) and husband Jim of Abilene, TX and many
nieces and nephews.
