MYRA SUE ICE PRUET, 95, passed away the morning
of Nov. 22, 2023. She was an example of one who lived
life to the fullest to her husband, children, grand-
children, and friends.
Myra Sue was born on March 9, 1928 to Myron Ice (RHS-
1926) and Hilda Gray Ice (RHS-1924) in Ranger, TX. She
attended Ranger High School in the Class of 1945. Myra
graduated from Hardin Simmons University and married
her high school sweetheart, Ronald Pruet (RHS-1945) in
1949. They moved often early in their marriage but
settled in Midland, TX. They moved to Austin, TX in
1965 where Ronald obtained master's and doctorate
degrees. They then moved to Oxford, MS in 1969 when
Ronald became a professor at the University of
Mississippi. They remained in Oxford for thirty-five
years until Ronald's declining health led to a move
to Houston, TX in 2004 to be nearer their children.
Myra Sue embraced her new location at the age of 76
and was soon involved in being part of a new church
family, meeting new friends, & playing bridge almost
every day. She also fearlessly drove the Houston
freeways, terrifying friends and family. Myra Sue
was a faithful and active member of Bethel Church.
She especially loved the deep friendships formed in
the life group that met in her home every Wednesday
evening.
Myra Sue was predeceased by her parents, Hilda and
Myron Ice, her husband Ronald, her daughter-in-law,
Mary, and her brother Jim Ice (RHS-1949).
She is survived by her sons, Ron (Sarah), Rick (Marian),
and Brent, & her brother, Phil. She also leaves eleven
grandchildren: Nicole (Dan), Emily (David), Taylor
(Hanh), Tripp (Morgan), Rebeccah, Andrew (Casey),
Gray (Madeline), Elizabeth (Francisco), Mary Grace,
Jackson, and Lauren (Tex). She was also blessed
with 13 great-grandchildren, and one whose arrival
is eagerly awaited. We are all so thankful for the
kindness of Lupe Ortiz who met so many of Myra's
needs.
Her worn and well-marked Bible is a testament to
Psalm 119:105: "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet,
and a light unto my path."
