Ranger Exes Memorial - RHS Class of 1946

Liz Rogers Medford HELEN ELIZABETH ROGERS MEDFORD, 96, of Carbon, TX, affectionately known as Liz, who peacefully left this world on Dec. 27, 2024. Born on June 1, 1928, in Ranger, TX, Liz was the beloved daughter of Jasper and Sallie (Ashcraft) Rogers. She graduated from Ranger High School in 1946 and later married the love of her life, Bob Medford, in Sept. of 1948. Together, they embarked on a beautiful journey, establishing their home on the family farm in Carbon, where they created a lifetime of cherished memories. Liz & Bob shared a deep bond that lasted 68 wonderful years until his passing in 2016. Together, they worked side-by-side on the farm, where Liz was not only her husband's right-hand person but also the heart of their home. Known for her exceptional cooking, she delighted family and friends with her famous Chicken Fried Steak and many other culinary creations. Her talents extended beyond the kitchen; as a gifted seamstress, she crafted beautiful clothing for her daughters, often transforming ideas into reality with love and creativity. Liz took great pride in her garden, nurturing every plant with care, and her yard flourished under her green thumb, becoming a testament to her nurturing spirit. She was a true matriarch, and her legacy will live on in the hearts of her loved ones. Liz was preceded in death by her parents; Jasper and Sallie Rogers; her husband, Bob Medford and daughter, Betty Jane Bracken and nine siblings including Mildred Rogers Reus (RHS-1940), Esda Rogers Terrill (RHS-1938), Ollie Rogers Hale (RHS- 1948) & Floyd Rogers (RHS-1943). Liz is survived by her loving children: son Daryl Medford and wife, Karla, daughter Nancy Winchester and husband, Dwane and daughter Sally Ann Bleeker & husband, Jack; seven grandchildren, Ryan (Heather), Julie (Neal), Claire (Justin), Sarah, Kailey (Casey), Morgan and Kylie; three great-grandchildren, Ashlee, Blakely and Audrey; a host of nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly and special friends and caretakers of Liz and Bob, Gina and Gary Tucker. A graveside service to honor Liz Medford will be held at Elm Cemetery in Okra on December 30, 2024, at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Terry Simmons officiating. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at a visitation on Sunday, December 29, 2024, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Eastland. In this time of sorrow, we remember Liz for her generosity, strength, and the love she shared with all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but forever cherished. "BOB" MEDFORD, 93, of Carbon, TX passed away on June 21, 2016 in Carbon surrounded by his family, with burial in Elm Cemetery. Mr. Medford was born Sept. 2, 1922 in Okra, TX to James Garrett Medford & Youtha Hilton Medford. He graduated from Carbon High School. He served in the U.S. Army. He married Elizabeth Rogers in Sept. of 1948 in Ranger. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Rising Star, as well as the American Legion. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Jane “BJ” Bracken; as well as 2 sisters, Wynogene Rood, and Laura Kate Stringer. Survivors include his wife Elizabeth “Liz” Medford of Carbon; a son, Daryl Medford & wife Karla of Carbon; 2 daughters, Sally Ann Bleeker & husband Jack of Boerne, and Nancy Winchester & husband Dwane of Boerne; 7 grand- children, Ryan, Julie, Claire, Sarah, Kailey, Morgan, & Kylie; 2 great-grandchildren, Ashlee, and Blakely; and by special friends, Gina and Gary Tucker.
