MARY HELEN "GRANNY" VINSON LOWRANCE, 78, of
Eastland, TX, passed away on Aug. 9, 2009 surrounded by
her loving family, with interment at Eastland Cemetery.
Mary was born in Eastland County, TX on Jan. 19, 1931 to
William & Susie Vinson. She graduated from high school
in Ranger, TX, in 1947 and was a graduate of the Draughns
Business School in Ft. Worth, TX. She was a member of the
Harmony Baptist Church in Morton Valley and the “Order of
the Eastern Star of Eastland”. She married L.A. Lowrance
Jr. in Oct. of 1948 in Eastland. They were married for 48
years and never spent a night apart even through illness
until his passing in 1995. She lived and worked in Eastland
her entire life as a dedicated caregiver. She raised two
wonderful sons, Tony & Randy, and a host of grandchildren
and great-grandchildren. She loved taking care of all of
her family more than anything and put everyone else’s needs
above her own. Mary’s two favorite hobbies were fishing
and bird hunting.
At the time of her death, Mary was survived by her son, Tony
Lowrance and wife Joan of Eastland; her granddaughters Laurie
Lowrance of Austin, Libby Lowrance of Eastland & Tammy Lipovsky
& husband Walt of Sebring, FL; her grandsons John Lowrance
and wife Julie of Granbury, Josh Lowrance and Link Lowrance of
Eastland, Mickey Jones and wife Mary of Osceola, MO, David
Jones and wife Jerra of Imperial, and Darren Jones of Ft. Worth;
great grandchildren Joe, John, Bobby, Tyler, Brandon, Matt, Luke,
Caleb, Ethan and Gracie; her brother Buddy Vinson of Ranger, her
sisters Marie Lee of Lovington, NM, and Nellie Sue Warren
(RHS-1960) and husband Terry of Scranton as well as a host of
nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews who she loved
dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husband L.A. Lowrance Jr., her
son Randall Lee Lowrance, her sister Betty Lou Vinson, and her
brother J.W. Vinson of Ranger.
“Granny” will be remembered by all who knew and loved her for
her love of her family, children and all their friends. She was
a wonderful caregiver was always known and admired for her
elegance, beauty, and impeccable ladylike appearance.
BROTHER: J.W. VINSON, 85, of Eastland, TX passed away
on March 22, 2006, with burial in the Merriman Cemetery
near Ranger, TX.
Mr. Vinson was born on Jan. 4, 1921 in Ranger, TX, to
William Shirley & Susie May Casey Vinson. He attended
school in Ranger and the West Central Texas Police Academy
in Abilene and was in law enforcement for 23 years. He
married the mother of his children, Stella Kitchens, in
1940, and she preceded him in death in 1981. He later
married Inez Fox in Sept. of 1987. He was a member of
the Merriman Baptist Church.
At the time of his death, Mr. Vinson was survived by his
wife, Inez Vinson of Eastland; four children, Patsy Vinson
Martin (RHS-1960) & husband, Jimmy of Buffalo Gap, Rita
Vinson Munoz (RHS-1963) of Ranger, Dwight Vinson & wife,
Nancy of Ranger and Ricky Vinson and wife, Bonnie of Olden;
a brother, Buddy Vinson of Ranger, and four sisters Marie
Vinson Lee of New Mexico, Mary Vinson Lowrance (RHS-1947)
of Morton Valley, Nellie Vinson Warren (RHS-1960) of Cisco
and Betty Lou Vinson of Galveston, 13 grandchildren, 22
great-grandchildren, & 2 great-great-grandchildren and
many nieces & nephews.
