PHYLLIS GLORIA ROGERS POSAS of El Paso, TX passed
away peacefully on Dec. 10, 2010 after a courageous
battle with breast cancer. She attended Ranger High
School in the Class of 1947. Interment was with her
husband at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
She was born Sept. 19, 1929 in Ranger, TX, the first
of 3 daughters to Phyllis & George Rogers. Graduating
from Texas Women's University, her career as a Speech
Language Pathologist with EPISD spanned more than 40
years.
Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, Charles
A. Posas and her daughter, Rebecca Posas. She is
survived by her daughter, Barbara Katy Hieatt (David),
son Charles M. Posas (Magdalene), sisters Georgeanne
Rogers Chancellor (RHS-1948), Kathy Bowen (RHS-1960,
Harold), grandchildren Darrell Hieatt, Bree Hieatt,
Jason Hieatt, Katherine De LaTorre, Julian Allen,
Courtney Allen, Hailey Posas and Carter Posas, great-
grandchildren Mina Hieatt, Diego Hieatt, and Armond
Hieatt.
Gloria was best known for her friendly smile and love
of children. She was a talented and prolific writer
of poems and children's stories. As a member of the
El Paso Manuscript Club, she often won first place
in their annual Easter and Christmas contests. She
will be missed dearly by all those whose lives she
touched.
