THOMAS CLAUDE POWELL, 86, of Arlington, TX
died July 24, 2018, with burial in the Parkdale
Cemetery at Arlington.
Thomas was born on April 19, 1932 in Ranger, TX to
parents, T.J. Powell and Claudia Lee Peck Powell.
He attended St. Rita's Catholic School in Ranger,
TX and may have attended Ranger High School in the
Class of 1948 for a short time, then Monahans High
School, and later graduated from Texas Tech in 1954.
He met his wife, Joyce, in 1959 and they married
that same year. The couple just celebrated their
59th wedding anniversary. Thomas was a longtime
member of the First Christian Church of Arlington
where he served as an elder. He was active in the
Mid-Cities Chapter of the TX Society of Professional
Engineers where he served as President and was
honored as Engineer of the Year. He was a loving
and involved father and he acted as coach for his
daughters softball teams. He loved playing softball
and volleyball in the Senior League. He stayed a loyal
fan of Texas Tech until the end. He was a member of
the Ranger Exes Association.
Survivors were his wife, Joyce; daughters, Susan Fisher
and her husband, Michael, Diane Corrigan and husband,
Keith and Annette Powell; grandchildren, Eric & Michelle
Fisher, John and Ryan Corrigan and Nicole Bishop; great-
grandchildren, Aiden, Melody & Christian Bishop; brother,
Dick Powell; sisters, Karen Cook and Kay Kennedy.
