WILLIAM ANTHONY LEWIS III, 59, born in Ranger,
TX on July 30, 1932 & died May 14, 1992, in
Houston.
He was the son of Lenola Willie Johnston and
William Anthony (Tony) Lewis, Jr., of Ranger.
"B-Tony's" father was a Ranger barber for years,
beloved by all who went to him to get "clipped."
B-Tony was the Salutatorian of the Ranger High
School Class of 1949 and also attended Ranger
Junior College, graduating there in 1951. He
graduated from North Texas State University
with a BBA in 1953. He was a member and very
active at Westbury United Methodist church. Mr.
Lewis retired from Conoco, Inc., as a vice
president after 39 years of service. He married
Ann Lilly of Brownfield, Texas in 1955. He and
Ann lived in Brownfield, Odessa, Fort Worth,
and finally in Houston for over 25 years until
his death of cancer. They had two children, Kay
and Robert.
He was survived by his wife, Ann Lewis of Houston,
Texas; daughter, Kay and her husband Bill Harrington
of Denver, Colorado; son, Robert Anthony Lewis and
his wife, Julia of Angleton, TX; a grandson, William
Anthony Lewis, and an uncle, James W. Johnston and
his wife, Irene. Interment was at Memorial Oaks
Cemetery. In a writing for the RHS Class of 1949
(40th Reunion in 1989), three years before his death,
B-Tony wrote, "I'd have to say the good Lord has
blessed us well."
WIFE: ANN LILLY LEWIS, 77, of Houston, TX, went to
be with her Lord and Savior on Jan. 4, 2009.
She was born on Dec. 12, 1931 to Dennis Q. and
Valtye T. Lilly. She was preceded in death by her
parents & her husband William A. "Tony" Lewis, III,
her brother, Hugh T. Lilly, sisters, Gayle DeBusk
and Peggy Rowe; great-aunt and Uncle Jim and Irene
Johnston.
Ann is survived by her son Robert Lewis and his wife,
Julia; daughter, Kay Harrington; grandchildren, William
and Maria Lewis; nieces, Sandy DeBord, Trisha Krueger,
Jane Schotz and Kate Lilly; sister-in-law, Laura Mae
Lilly, cousins, Tom and Brenda Brookman and close
friends, Bill and Nina Swaney and many other loving
relatives and friends.
Ann grew up in Brownfield, Texas and graduated from
Brownfield High School. She married William Anthony
Lewis, III in June of 1955. They lived in Brownfield,
Odessa and Fort Worth before settling in Houston in
1964. Ann was an active member of the Westbury United
Methodist Church and the Harmony Sunday School class.
She was a long time volunteer at the Methodist Hospital
and served as Past President and board member with the
Methodist Hospital Service Corp. Ann enjoyed reading,
traveling, volunteering and spending time with her
grandchildren, friends and family.
