PAULINE WILLIAMS WRIGHT, age 77, of Glenwood, TX died
on Aug. 10, 2009, with interment at Mt. Tabor Cemetery.
She was born on Oct. 14, 1931 at Kilgore, TX, the
daughter of Miley Edward Williams and Avvis I. Robinson
Williams. In Dec. of 1959, she was married to J.T.
Wright who preceded her in death on February 1, 2004.
Pauline was a 1949 graduate of Ranger High School and
received her Associate Degree from Ranger Jr. College
in 1951. In 1953, she earned her bachelor's degree from
Hardin-Simmons University and her master's degree in
library science from Texas Woman's University in 1959.
She was a librarian and teacher for almost 40 years in
the public school systems teaching in Texas, New Mexico
and Arkansas. She was a member of Glenwood First Baptist
Church and the Arkansas Association for Retired Teachers.
Pauline was an avid reader & enjoyed researching genealogy.
She is survived by her son, Dr. J. Thomas "Tom" Wright, Jr.
(DVM) and his wife, Glenna of Glenwood; three brothers and
sisters-in-law, Miley Williams, Jr. (RHS-1950) & Pat of
Magnolia, AR, J. Ted and Nancy Williams of Waxahachie, TX
and Burl & Lynn Williams of Ranger, TX; two sisters and one
brother-in-law, Doris Williams Walling (RHS-1951) of San
Angelo, TX, and Helen Williams (RHS-1953) & Aubrey Easley
of Midland, TX; and several nephews and nieces.
HUSBAND: DR. JAMES T. "J.T." WRIGHT of Glenwood, AR, husband
of Pauline Williams Wright (RHS-1949), passed away on Feb. 1,
2004, at Hot Springs, AR. They had one son, Tom who lives at
Glenwood. Burial was at Mt. Tabor Cemetery.
Dr. Wright was an educator. He married Pauline Williams in
Ranger in 1959. He earned his Ed.D. degree at the University
of Arkansas at Fayetteville and taught at various universities
before becoming Chairman of Elementary Education at Henderson
State University, where he completed his career. Pauline took
a great interest in genealogy and researched J.T.'s Wright and
Short families, publishing The Wright Book in 1972 and A Short
Line Across America in 1984 and instigated large Wright family
reunions which brought together and further united the Wright
families. They had retired to Glenwood, AR, in Montgomery
County on land that had belonged to the Short family for many
generations. Pauline will continue to make her home there
where her son, Dr. Tom Wright and his wife Glenna operate and
manage the Wright Veterinary Hospital.
BROTHER: BURL KAY WILLIAMS, 73, of Ranger, passed away on
Feb. 27, 2012, with burial at Evergreen Cemetery in
Ranger, TX.
He was born February 24, 1939 in Ranger, TX to Miley
& Avvis Robinson Williams. Burl may have attended Ranger
High School since all his siblings did but no record found
of it. He married Lillian Harper in 1980 in Lancaster,
TX. He was a Baptist and a retired diesel mechanic. He
was preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Wright (RHS-1949).
Survivors include his wife: Lillian Williams of Ranger;
brothers: Miley Williams (RHS-1950) of Magnolia, AR,
and Ted Williams (RHS-1955) of Waxahachie, TX; and
sisters: Doris Walling (RHS-1951) of San Angelo and
Helen Easley (RHS-1953) or Midland, TX.
