MYRTLE EVELYN BLACKWELL WHEAT, 91, of
Cisco, TX was called to her Eternal home on Feb. 14,
2023, with burial in the Oakwood Cemetery.
Evelyn was born Feb. 10,1932 to Willis Curtis and
Permelia Frances (Cox) Blackwell in Ranger TX. She
graduated from Ranger High School in the Class of
1949. In Feb. of 1949, she married Byron Barnett
(Barney) Wheat Sr. in Clovis N.M. Barney preceded
her in death in 1994.
As a licensed dietician Evelyn worked as a manager
in the food service industry. She was employed at
Ranger Jr. College, Cisco Jr. College, Cisco Senior
Citizens Program, Lone Cedar Country Club, & Jamie's
Restaurant. She was a wonderful cook & made delicious
cakes and sweets. She also served in the 1970s as
Cisco Municipal Judge. If you asked her to take on
a job, she would do it.
Evelyn was a member of I-20 Church of Christ and
also Mesquite & Rusk Church of Christ in Ranger.
She was a loving Christian woman and raised her
children in a Christian home.
She was preceded by her parents, husband Barney,
two children Latricia and Bo & one sister Lanora
Blackwell Johnson (RHS-1947).
Left to cherish her memories are her children:
DeVonna Wheeler of Cisco, and Cheryl Robinson and
husband David of Cisco. Grandchildren: Christi
Chapman & husband Mike of Snyder, Felicia Ragsdale
of Cisco, Jamie Lambert and husband Bobby of Cisco,
Jeremy Robinson and wife Sylvia of Breckenridge,
Charles Robinson and wife Rebekah of Cisco. Great-
grandchildren: Shelby, Corbin, Tucker, Mystic,
Ryker, Trace and Morgan. Great-great-grandchildren:
Zack, Reagan, Reese, Piper, Millie and Piper.
SON: BYRON "BO" BARNETT WHEAT JR., 61,
of Cisco, TX passed away peacefully at his residence
on April 18, 2018.
Bo was born Feb. 2, 1957 in Ranger, TX to Byron
Barnett Sr. & Myrtle Evelyn (Blackwell) Wheat. Bo
was a building contractor and self-employed. He
enjoyed fishing and loved animals especially his
dog. He enjoyed helping others & was a kindhearted
soul.
Survivors are his mother Evelyn Wheat of Cisco,
two sisters; DeVonna Gayle and husband R.H. of
Eastland and Cheryl Robinson and husband David
of Cisco. Several nieces and nephews. He was
preceded in death by his father Byron Barnett
Wheat Sr, and a sister Latricia Lucas.
