OSCAR DEAN SUTTON, 73, died on May 4, 2006, at
an Abilene medical center, with burial in Elmwood
Memorial Park. He attended Ranger High School in
the Class of 1950 at Ranger, TX.
The son of Charlie Lee Sutton and Ruby Archula Abel
Sutton, Dean was born on May 25, 1932, in Ranger,
TX, and moved from Lubbock to Abilene in 1962. He
had been employed by the Texas Department of Criminal
Justice. A member of Calvary Baptist Church and a
former member of Optimist Club of Abilene, he was
also an avid fisherman and golfer. Dean enjoyed
several other hobbies including woodworking and
hunting. He served in the U.S. Air Force.
A daughter, Teresa Sutton; his mother, Ruby Sutton;
and his stepmother and father, Willie D. and Charles
Sutton, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Margie Sutton of Abilene;
a daughter, Becky Renne Pliml and husband, James, of
Abilene; a brother, Howard Eugene "Socko" Sutton (RHS-
1952) and wife, Erma, of Ingram, TX; sisters, Pat
Sutton Banks and husband, Woody, of Fort Worth, and
Shirley Sutton Windle & husband, Ted, of Weatherford;
a granddaughter, Lara Teresa Pliml; & numerous nieces
and nephews.
