CURTIS RAY SHARP, 69, of Ranger, TX, died March 28,
1999, at his residence. Burial was at the Evergreen
Cemetery in Ranger.
Mr. Sharp was born on Dec. 13, 1930 in Olden, TX
to Mack Curtis and Dessie (Hamilton) Sharp. He
grew up in the Olden/Ranger area attending school
there, graduating from Ranger High School with the
Class of 1952. He worked in the oilfield as a foreman
running a casing crew. He lived in many different
areas but retired in Ranger. He was a WWII Army
veteran.
Survivors at the time of his death are his wife,
Colleen Sharp of Ranger; one son, Curtis Ray Sharp,
Jr. (RHS-1985) of Ranger; two daughters, Cindy
Chamberlin and Elaine Sharp, both of Breckenridge;
one brother, Jerry Sharp of Strawn; four sisters,
Maxine Sharp Norris (RHS-1944) of Ranger, Clara
Sharp Houx (RHS-1949) of Fort Worth, Shirley Sharp
Gentry (RHS-1958) of Ranger, & Kathy Sharp Herrington
(RHS-1968) of Abilene; several grandchildren & numerous
nieces and nephews.
BROTHER: JERRY DON SHARP, 81, of Strawn, TX, passed
away Feb. 26, 2014 in Eastland, TX, with burial at
the Mt. Marion Cemetery in Strawn.
Jerry was born on Feb. 17, 1933 in Eastland
County to Mack Curtis Sharp and Dessie Hamilton
Sharp. He may have attended Ranger High School
but his class is unknown. After graduating from
high school, he attended RJC for 2 years. He
married Mary Frances Riebe in 1952 in Strawn.
Jerry served in the U.S. Marines. He was a farmer,
rancher, and truck driver for Southern Airways.
He was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church,
Pac-A-Sac Coffee Group, and enjoyed hunting,
fishing, bull riding and rodeo.
Survivors at the time of his death include his
wife, Frances Sharp of Strawn; 2 sons, Jerry Don
Sharp, II and wife Karen of Jacksboro, and Danny
Sharp and his wife Laura of Strawn; 2 daughters,
Diane Sharp and Debbie Unkart both of Strawn; 1
sister, Kathy McIntire and husband Ronald of
Gunsight Community; 15 grandchildren; & 18 great-
grandchildren; & mother-in-law, Marguerite Riebe.
