BETTY JEAN MADDUX DAVIS, 78, of Denison, TX, departed
this world on Oct. 24, 2012.
Jean was born Nov. 5, 1933 to Stayton and Lula Maddux
in Ranger, TX. She attended Ranger High School in the
Class of 1952. Jean was married to her true love, R.B.
Davis, in August of 1950 and they made their home in
various towns in Oklahoma and Texas before settling
in Denison in 1960.
Everyone who knew Jean knew that she put others before
herself and God above all. She was a humble and inspiring
woman whose faith never wavered and her mission field
was anywhere she happened to be. She offered her advice
to anyone that wanted it and offered her heart and home
to anyone who needed it. She was privileged to have the
opportunity to do mission work in Romania and Japan,
and spent seven years serving at the Texarkana Baptist
Orphanage. She was faithful her entire life in church
and was a member of Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist
Church. She loved her family and friends with all her
heart and never met a person she couldn't love or didn't
try to help. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren
were a delight to her and they loved being at her home.
The best food, hugs, back-scratches, and fun times were
at Gramm Camp.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and
three brothers including Robert "Bob" Maddux (RHS-1956)
and survived by her sister, Mary Carter (RHS-1959), and
brother, Wayne Maddux.
She is survived by daughter, Tawana Crawford and her
husband Bud of New Castle, VA, Ricky Davis and his wife
Roni of Denison, and Sherri Lamar and her husband Kenny
of Pottsboro; and by grandchildren, Nicole Donihoo,
Crystal Roberts, Cliff Davis, Carla Davis, Danielle
Lamar; and great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Madison, Tyson,
Kaymann, Caiden, and Jackson.
