Lee Crawford LEE CRAWFORD, 87 a life-long resident of Ranger, TX, passed away on July 10, 2017, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery at Ranger. Lee was born April 15, 1930 in Texola, OK to Jim Edward Crawford & Willie Ora (Lindsey) Crawford. He attended Ranger Elementary and Ranger High School. He served in the U.S. Army for 1 year, Army Reserves for 6 years, and then the National Guard. He married his wife of 65 years, Ethel Oleta McGough in Jan. of 1952. He started as an Automotive Mechanic as a young man for Price Crawley in Ranger, TX. He started his own Auto- motive Business (Crawford's Garage) in 1957 in Ranger and then added Crawford Muffler Service that was owned and operated by his son, Dwaine Lee Crawford, Jr. He was a member of Ranger Jaycees, Ranger Volunteer Fire Department; and Board of Directors of the Ranger Housing Authority and Gholson Hotel Apartments. He attended the Church of God of Prophecy in Ranger, River of Life Church in Eastland, and Second Baptist Church in Ranger. He enjoyed raccoon hunting with his buddy, Jack Petree and their favorite coon hounds. He loved playing "42" with family and church friends. As a young man, he had a horse that he named "Star" that he loved riding and taking care of. He had several dogs over the years (especially "Wolf", "Bulger", and "Man") that stood watch over him, his family (especially the kids and wife), and his mechanic business. He enjoyed caring for his chickens. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Leona Smithers, Weldon Crawford, Cora Fay Crawford Roberson (RHS-1954), Marvin Crawford (RHS-1956), and Gerald Wayne "Pete" Crawford; and by special friends, A.J. Tanner, Donald Duggan, Dick Siver, Jack Petree, and Bob Barnhill. Survivors include his wife, Ethel Crawford of Ranger; 5 children, Janice Crawford Griffin (RHS-1971) and husband Russell of Ranger, Sharon Crawford Beaty (RHS-1972) & husband Carl of Albany, Sandra Crawford Griffin (RHS-1975) & husband A.D. Jr. of Weatherford, Dwaine Lee Crawford, Jr. (RHS-1977) and wife Gilda of Ranger, and Terri Crawford Anderson (RHS-1980) & husband Donnie of Albany; 12 grandchildren, Angela Jones and husband Rickey Wayne (Pete) of Moran, Shawna Knight and husband Jimmy of Albany, Joni Beaty of Albany, DeeAnn Matthews and husband Stephen of Millsap, ShaLee Wilmott and husband Casey of Weatherford, Kandi Crawford of Wichita Falls, Katie Crawford of Stephen- ville, Kelsi Schaefer and husband Derek of Canyon Lake, Megan Jimenez and husband Christopher of Abilene, Malarie Sutton & husband Shawn of Albany, & Morgan Anderson of Abilene; 16 great-grandchildren, Ricky Wayne (Little Pete) Jones, James Lee Knight III, Jacob Lee Knight, Jordan Lee Knight, Joshua Lee Knight, Payne Hebel, Chasity Matthews, Chloe Matthews, Kadence Matthews, Kolbie Matthews, ShaeLynn Wilmott, Dominic Jimenez, Daniel Jimenez, Tea Jimenez, Hunter Sutton, and Hadley Sutton; brothers and sisters, Marie Crawford Burton (RHS-1943) of Mineral Wells, Deola Crawford Covington (RHS-1951) of Odessa, and Lora Mae (Connie) Widner of Lone Camp; and special friends, Clifton Walton, Buster Harper, Bill Brister, Wesley Yount. WIFE: ETHEL OLETA MCGOUGH CRAWFORD, 85, went home to be with the Lord Christmas Eve, 2020 with her family by her side. Born in Ranger, TX on Jan. 10, 1935 to Roy G. & Edna Flora (Parent) McGough, Ethel Crawford – better known as “Mom” by her family - spent her life in Ranger. She attended Ranger schools and ultimately obtained her GED later in life. She married Dwaine “Lee” Crawford, Sr. in Jan. of 1952 and they were by each other’s side 65 years until his death in 2017. Ethel worked as a nurse at Ranger General Hospital & later at Western Manor Nursing Home, then went to work for Ranger ISD as a Cafeteria worker and later, a substitute teacher. Ethel loved to sew, making quits for her children, grand- children and great-grandchildren. She also loved gardening and loved to sing. She also loved her Lord and Savior and taught Sunday School and work with the Children’s Ministries and was faithful to read her Bible. She attended church at Church of God of Prophecy in Ranger, River of Life Churc in Eastland and Second Baptist Church in Ranger. She is survived by her 5 children; Janice Griffin and husband Russell of Ranger, Sharon Beaty and husband Carla of Albany, Sandra Griffin & husband A.D., Jr. of Weatherford, Dwaine Lee Crawford and wife Gilda of Ranger and Terri Anderson and husband Donnie of Albany: 12 grandchildren; Angela Jones and husband Rickey Wayne “Pete” of Moran, Shawna Knight and Husband Jimmy of Albany, Joni Beaty of Albany, DeeAnn Griffin of Millsap, ShaLee Wilmott and husband Casey of Weatherford, John Eric Griffin and Wife Ashley of Weatherford, Kandi Sloan and husband Dustin of Wichita Falls, Katie Crawford of Weatherford, Kelsi Schaefer and husband Derek of Canyon Lake, Megan Jimenez and husband Christopher of Abilene, Malarie Sutton and husband Shawna of Albany and Morgan Anderson of Abilene: 21 great-grand- children; Rickey Wayne “Little Pete” Jones, Taylor Ray Jones, James Lee Knight III, Jacob Lee Knight, Jordan Lee Knight, Joshua Lee Knight, Payne Hebel, Chasity Blanchard, Chloe Stricklin, Kadence Matthews, Kolbie Matthews, ShaeLynn Wilmott, Laney Lois Sloan, Hazel Kay Schaefer, Dominic Jimenez, Daniel Jimenez, Tea’ Jimenez, Hunter Sutton, Hadley Sutton, Shayla Knight and Case Wilmont and one precious great-great grandchild; Cohen Blanchard. Ethel is also survived by siblings; Cora Mae Walton of Ranger, Darlene Boggs of Ranger, John David McGough of Ranger, Robert McGough of Abilene, Roder McGough of Abilene and Evelyn Holt of Ranger, and many, many nieces and nephews. Ethel is preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband, Lee Crawford, Sr., brothers; Melvin “Penney” McGough and Roy Lee McGough and a sister, Clara “Buckles” Brewer.
