THOMAS A. "AL" TUNE, 64, of Fort Davis, TX died Dec. 11,
1999 in a Midland, TX.
He was born Jan. 28, 1935, in Ranger, TX, to Thomas
Alvin & Jean Berlin (Kohler) Tune. He was reared and
educated in Ranger attending Ranger High School in the
Class of 1953. He attended Texas Tech University where
he earned a degree in electrical engineering.
He went to work for Texas Electric Service Company while
in high school and after graduation from Texas Tech moved
to Monahans where he worked as a control engineer at the
Permian Basin Power Plant. He met Wilma Smiley in Monahans
and they were married September of 1961 in Amarillo, TX.
He worked for Texas Electric in the Fort Worth area from
1968 to 1991, retiring Jan. of 1999, in Kennedale as
senior combustion engineer. He moved to Fort Davis for
retirement where he was a member of the Fort Davis First
United Methodist Church, & a permanent volunteer for the
Fort Davis Historical Society. He was a 20-year member
of the Texas National Guard.
Survivors at the time of his death include his wife, Wilma
Smiley Tune of Fort Davis; a son, Tom Tune and his wife
Sheila of Fort Worth & two grandchildren.
