JIMMIE DELL RODGERS, 84, left this world
unexpectedly and was welcomed into the arms
of Jesus on Nov. 4, 2021.
He was born to Reace Rodgers & Bonnie Mathis in
Gorman, TX, on Dec. 23, 1936 and was the eldest
of three children. Jimmie was a graduate of
Ranger High School in the Class of 1955 at
Ranger, TX and briefly attended Ranger Junior
College prior to entry into the U.S. Air Force,
where he proudly served his country for four
years.
Following his honorable discharge in Feb. of
1962, Jimmie returned home to Ranger, where he
began courting the love of his life, Willene
Lee. Jimmie & Willene were married in Nov. of
that same year. Jimmie and Willene soon found
their way to Deer Park, TX, where he began working
for Tenneco & eventually Lyondell. Their union
produced two sons, Rusty in 1966 and Stephen in
1969. Jimmie eventually retired from Lyondell
in 1997 and transitioned from "dreaded safety
man" to doting grandfather. He could always be
found on the sidelines or in the audience
cheering the kids on.
Jimmie never met a stranger and was an avid
storyteller. He always had a story of growing
up in West Texas with his best friend, Ting or
of that "one guy at work." We will miss hearing
those stories greatly.
Jimmie is survived by his loving wife of 58
years, Willene Rodgers, son Rusty and wife
Shawna, son Stephen & wife Jennifer. Sisters
Barbara Rodgers Milam (RHS-1957) and Sue
Rodgers Stuard (RHS-1960) and her husband,
R.L. Jimmie leaves behind grandchildren Nick
Rodgers and wife Paige, Cassidy Stone and
husband Jordan, Dakota Rodgers and Dylan
Rodgers, as well as two great-grandchildren,
Christian and Reese.
