CAROLE ANN SANDERS, 78, of Jacksboro, TX, Founder
of Animal Angels Sanctuary & Retired American Airlines
Flight Attendant, passed away on Jan. 6, 2018, following
a brain aneurysm. Carole found joy in her 40-year career
as a flight attendant, but her real passion was always
for animals. In 1993, she proudly founded the non-profit
rescue organization, Animal Angels Sanctuary, in Jacksboro,
TX. It was Carole’s fervent desire that her legacy would
continue for years to come, & she hand-picked Beth Kelley
to succeed her as President of Animal Angels.
She graduated from Ranger High School in the Class of 1958
and Ranger Jr. College at Ranger, TX.
Carole is survived by her spouse, Nita Burgoon; Beth &
Matthew Kelley; grandchildren Mattison, Duncan, and Lilly
Kelley; three brothers and their wives: Mike Sanders
(RHS-1964) and Phyllis Colatosti, Phil (RHS-1970) and
Teresa Sanders, Steve (RHS-1973) and Myrene Sanders;
nephews Michael, Adam, David, Justin “Red” Sanders, and
niece Whitney Junot, as well as many great nephews,
great-niece, cousins, friends, and the many rescued
animals that she loved. She was preceded in death by
her parents, Wilburn Connaly “Bill” Sanders and Dorothy
Mae McNutt Sanders, and niece Fawn Sanders Cave.
