JOHN ALBERT PIRKLE, 55, was killed in an
automobile accident on a Dallas freeway as he was
traveling home from work on March 28, 1998. A semi-
trailer truck towing another vehicle was stalled
in both South bound lanes of the highway & a third
vehicle hit Mr. Pirkle's automobile from the rear
& drove him completely under the truck. He was
dead at the scene. Interment was in the Bullock
Cemetery near Ranger, TX.
Johnny was born in Ranger, TX on July 24, 1942. He
attended school in Ranger, graduating from Ranger
High School in 1960. He attended Ranger Jr. College
and worked with his dad at Strawn Motor Company until
he went to work in Grand Prairie in 1968. He later
went to work for what then was Western Electric (now
Lucent Technologies) at their Mesquite plant. He
worked there for over 20 years. Mr. Pirkle was member
of First Christian Church of Ranger.
He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Bobby,
one brother, William Gaylon, and his dad, B.G. Pirkle.
At the time of his death, he is survived by his mother,
Alberta Windham Pirkle of Arlington; aunts, Clara Martin
of Fort Worth, Rosa Hatton of Ranger and Edith Daniel
of Goldthwaite; uncles, Henry Martin of Fort Worth, Tom
Faulkenberry of Bracketville, and Raymond Mitchell and
Walton Daniel of Goldthwaite.
MOTHER: ALBERTA "PEACHES" WINDHAM PIRKLE,
81, of Goldthwaite, TX and formerly of Ranger, passed
away on Nov. 7, 2001, with burial at Bullock Cemetery
near Ranger.
Alberta was born Oct. 23, 1920 in Eastland County, TX
to James Albert and Annie (Adams) Windham. She married
B.G. Pirkle in 1949 in Ranger and he preceded her in
death on May 17, 1977. She was a beautician in Ranger
for several years and worked as an office manager for
Dalworth Oil Company and also a bank in the Metroplex
area. She was a member of the Professional Beauticians
Guild and the First Christian Church in Ranger.
She was preceded in death by three sons, Johnny Pirkle
(RHS-1960), James Robert, and William Gayland Pirkle.
Survivors at the time of her death: brother, Raymond
Mitchell of Goldthwaite; sister, Edith Daniel also of
Goldthwaite; brother-in-law, Tom Faulkenberry of
Brackettville; five nephews; three nieces; & numerous
great-nieces and great-nephews.
