SANDRA KAY COOPER LAUX, 32, of Long Island, NY,
a Ranger native was found dead in April of 1974,
at her parents' home in Ranger, TX. Burial was
in Evergreen Cemetery in Ranger. The memorial
pictured on the right is in front of the Methodist
Church in Ranger.
Mrs. Laux was born Feb. 7, 1942 in Ranger to
Guy and Rosa Cooper. She graduated from Ranger
High School in 1960. Sandra worked for a chemical
company in New York City and had traveled for her
company to various locations in Europe. Sandra &
her husband were building a home in Connecticut.
She had no children.
Survivors at the time of her death were her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Guy Cooper of Ranger; two sisters, Mrs.
Allen (Barbara) Rushing (RHS-1955) of Temple and Mrs.
Harry (Sarah) Crowe (RHS-1965) of Midland; 2 brothers,
Ralph D. Cooper (RHS-1949) of Houston and Fred M.
Cooper (RHS-1958) of Aledo.
MOTHER: ROSA LEE WEATHERS COOPER, 92, of Temple,
TX formerly of Ranger, died on May 24, 1999, with
burial in the Evergreen Cemetery at Ranger TX.
Mrs. Cooper was born on Nov. 24, 1906 in Brownwood,
TX, to John Bee and Vance Middleton Weathers. She
married Guy Cooper in Ranger in 1931. She earned
her state elementary teaching certification from
San Marcos Teachers’ College in 1930 and taught
school in the Ranger area a number of years. She
and her husband farmed and raised their family in
Ranger. In 1983, she moved to Midland where she
was active in the Senior Citizens’ Center. She
was a member of the First United Methodist Church
of Ranger. She had been living at Sterling House
Retirement Center in Temple for the past year.
She was preceded in death by her husband and one
daughter, Sandra Cooper Laux (RHS-1960), as well
as two sisters and one brother. Guy Cooper was
born in 1899 and died in Nov. of 1978 at Ranger.
Survivors at the time of her death are 4 children,
Ralph Cooper (RHS-1949) and his wife Sue of Houston,
Fred Cooper (RHS-1958) and his wife Frieda of Venus,
TX, Barbara Cooper Whatley (RHS-1955) & her husband
Don of Temple and Sarah Cooper Collins (RHS-1965)
and her husband John of Midland. All of the Cooper
children were graduates of Ranger High School. Also
surviving are nine grandchildren, seven great-grand-
children & numerous nieces and nephews.
