JANICE KAY THOMPSON CARLIN, 60, died at home on
Nov. 2, 2003, with burial in Elmwood Memorial
Park at Abilene, TX.
Jan was born April 28, 1943 in Dublin, TX, and
graduated from Ranger High School in 1962 at
Ranger, TX. Jan married Jim Carlin in July of
1963 in Abilene, where the couple lived for more
than 40 years. They moved to Lake Leon 6 years
ago, & recently moved back to Abilene.
Jan was involved in VFW Post 2012 Auxiliary, Abilene
Women's Bowling Association, a coach of junior bowlers,
and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A
homemaker, who loved gardening, Jan's most important
roles was that of wife, mother, and "Nana".
Jan was preceded in death by her father, R.W. "Woody"
Gryder and two granddaughters, Alex and Alysse Carlin.
Survivors at the time of her death include husband,
Jim Carlin of Abilene and Lake Leon; two sons, Butch
and wife Tonya Carlin of Abilene, and Joey and wife
Lara of Abilene; four beloved grandchildren, Cole,
Meghan, Cris, and Jack; mother, Oneta Martin of
Abilene; sister, Frankie Woodyard and husband David
of Abilene; brother Jimmy Gryder and wife Linda of
Tuscola; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins
and friends.
