GAY NELL BLACKWELL BURNETT, 75, loving wife,
mother, grandmother, & great-grandmother, passed
away passed away on July 14, 2020 after a long
battle with cancer, with burial at Alameda
Cemetery near Ranger, TX.
Gay was born on June 19, 1945 in Gorman, TX to
J.B & Juanita McGaha Blackwell. She graduated
from Ranger High School in the Class of 1963.
In July of 1962, she married Jimmy Don Burnett
(RHS-1960). They raised two children, James
(RHS-1982) and Melissa (RHS-1985).
Gay was a member of the Mesquite & Rusk Church
of Christ. She loved working for First Financial
Bank for 33 years & later worked at the Eastland
County Courthouse. She cherished all of the
friendships she developed over the years.
Gay will be remembered for all the things she
loved and shared with her family. Her love for
cooking and planning delicious meals, the family
vacations and camping in Colorado, playing card
games and dominoes and flower gardening will be
greatly missed and always remembered.
Gay was preceded in death by her father J.B. &
her mother Juanita and her brother Fred Blackwell
(RHS-1969). She is survived by her husband Jimmie
Don, her two children, James & Melissa, daughter-
in-law, Wendy, three grandchildren, Jamie, Mason
and Madilyn, one great-granddaughter, Harper, one
brother Larry Blackwell (RHS-1967), one sister-in-
law Jan and several nieces and nephews.

MOTHER: JUANITA MCGAHA BLACKWELL, 86, of Ranger,
TX passed away Aug. 20, 2004, with burial in Alameda
Cemetery near Ranger.
Mrs. Blackwell was born on May 30, 1918 in Eastland
County, TX, to Jesse & Leora (Jones) McGaha. She was
a graduate of Carbon High School. She met & married
J.B. Blackwell in Dec. of 1943 at Ranger and he
preceded her in death on May 12, 1970. She was a
homemaker and a member of the Mesquite & Rusk St.
Church of Christ.
Mrs. Blackwell is survived by her daughter Gay Nell
Burnett (RHS-1963) & husband Jim Burnett (RHS-1960)
of Lake Leon; son, Larry Don Blackwell (RHS-1967) &
wife, Jan of Bedford, TX; sister, Jo Johnson of
Odessa, TX; eight grandchildren; seven great-grand-
children; and several nieces and nephews.
