MARY CHARLENE BLACKWELL SIMPSON, 78,
passed from this life into her eternal one on Jan. 23,
2024 in Bertram, TX, with interment at Crossroads
Cemetery near Ranger, TX.
She was born on Aug. 18, 1945 in Gorman, TX to Orville
Earnest Blackwell (RHS-1933) & Marie Charlene (Neger)
Blackwell. Charlene attended Ranger High School in the
Class of 1963 at Ranger, TX. Mary was one-of-a-kind. She
was charming, beautiful, could light up any room & lived
her life to the fullest. She was independent, head-strong,
knew what she wanted and could accomplish anything she
set out to accomplish. Mary enjoyed traveling, visiting
the coast, water skiing and snow-skiing, made the BEST
apple pie, loved baking, but most of all, she enjoyed
spending time with her “Doodlebug” Adalynn and family.
Mary attended college where she learned the trade of a
Medical Transcriptionist. She worked for many years in
the Eastland and Stephenville area. She worked as an
Administrator for Eagle Construction in Eastland and
even started her own “Ubering” service to help those
that needed a ride, before Uber was a thing. Mary will
be remembered by her family as being a wonderful mother,
sister and grandmother who put her family first. She
will be dearly missed by all.
She was preceded by her parents: Orville and Marie
Blackwell and one nephew: Lance Cooper.
Those left to cherish her love and memory are her son:
Chance Simpson and wife Susan of Lampasas, TX; two
brothers: Jerry Blackwell (RHS-1974) and wife Mary
and Jimmy Blackwell (RHS-1971), both of Ranger; one
sister: Helen Blackwell Cooper (RHS-1962) of Eastland,
TX; one niece: Lisa Cooper Sanchez and husband Abel
of Dallas, TX; three grandchildren: Adalynn Simpson,
Jackson Simpson and Danny Ireland and wife Brandi;
and one great-grandchild: Stevie Ireland.
