DAVID HALE DUNSON, 56 of Ranger, TX died Aug. 29, 2003
in Ranger at his residence, with burial in the Alameda
Cemetery near Ranger.
Born in Ranger Dec. 14, 1946 to Hale and Bobbie (Coats)
Dunson, he was a Class of 66 Ranger High School Graduate,
earned an Associates Degree from Ranger Junior College. He
joined the U.S. Army in 1968 and served in Vietnam, was
injured and received the Purple Heart & Combat Infantryman's
Badge. After his honorable discharge he married Jana Henson
in Old Mexico in 1974. They moved to Fort Worth where he
worked for Adair Inc in the sheet metal business. He was
employed during the construction of DFW Airport. The family
moved to Ranger in 1981 where he coached Little League
baseball and supported his children in their activities.
He worked for GE Rail-car as a rail-car inspector, Eagle
Construction and CMR Corp.
He was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Ranger,
National Rifle Association and he enjoyed fishing, hunting,
gun-smiting and knife making.
He was preceded in death by Jana, his wife in 1999.
At the time of his death, he was survived by daughter and
son-in-law; Lisa and Ian Davis of Kentucky, son; David Scott
Dunson of Ranger, parents; Hale and Bobbie Marie Dunson of
Ranger, brother; Daniel Dunson (RHS-1971) of Stephenville,
TX, sister; Daisy Marie Dunson (RHS-1971) of Marble Falls,
grandchildren; Nathan Hale Davis, Cody Scott Dunson & Chase
Scott Dunson, and several nieces and nephews.
FATHER: HENRY HALE DUNSON, 79, of Ranger, died April 23,
2004 at a local nursing home, with burial in Evergreen
Cemetery at Ranger, TX.
Hale was born Jan. 6, 1925 in Ranger to Henry M. and
Daisy D. Dunson. He was the 10th sibling. He attended
school in Ranger. Hale married Bobbie M. Coats in Jan. of
1946 in Eastland. He worked as a commercial printer for
the Ranger Times for 45 years including making football
and rodeo programs, stationery letterhead and wedding
invitations. He was a member of the United Pentecostal
Church in Ranger.
He was preceded in death by a son, David Hale Dunson (RHS-
1966).
Survivors at the time of his death are his wife of 58 years,
Bobbie Dunson of Ranger; son, Daniel Lee Dunson (RHS-1971)
of Stephenville; daughter, Daisy Marie Thomas (RHS-1971) of
Ranger; and a number of grandchildren & great-grandchildren.
MOTHER: BOBBIE MARIE COATS DUNSON, 83, passed away May 29,
2014 at her home in Ranger, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
Bobbie was born on June 12, 1930 in Houston, TX to Thomas E.
and Donnie (Daniels) Coats. She married Hale Dunson in Jan.
of 1946 in Eastland, TX and they made their home in Ranger.
Bobbie was a cook working at nursing homes and Ranger Jr.
College for many years. She loved to cook for her family
and many friends.
Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband,
Hale; a son; and 1 brother.
Survivors at the time of her death include her son, Daniel
(RHS-1971) & wife Debbie Dunson of Stephenville; 1 daughter,
Daisy Thomas (RHS-1971) of Ranger; 2 brothers, Darrell Coats
of Detroit, TX, & Jerry Pinkston of Nevada.
