COACH RUDY R. MENDOZA, 73, of Ranger, TX
passed away on May 9, 2024. Mr. Mendoza was born
May 18, 1950 in Ranger to Paschal & Trinidad Mendoza.
Rudy graduated from Ranger High School in the Class
of 1968 and the University of North Texas Denton in
1972. He began his teaching and coaching career in
the Fort Worth ISD and worked there 19 years then
came back home to Ranger where he taught & coached
for 31 years before retiring in 2023. Mr. Mendoza
enjoyed teaching and loved every student. He loved
working in his yard, taking care of his horse, his
dog and playing the lottery. He will be missed by
everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his brother Arthur Mendoza (RHS-
1964) of Garland, TX, sister Wilma Mendoza Rodriguez
(RHS-1962) of Ft. Worth, TX, step-daughter Misty
Miley (RHS-1993), husband Steven of Ranger. Grand-
children Jaylon Murphy, husband Spencer of Mineral
Wells, Addyson Miley of Ranger, two great-grand-
daughters, a great-grandson to be born in July,
step-daughter Kelly Hodges of Arkansas and six
grandchildren Hailey Hodges of Florida, Kelsey
Wells and husband Tyler Wells of Breckenridge,
TX, Alexis Hodges of Arkansas, River Hodges,
Alayna Hodges, and Makinleigh Hodges and two
great-granddaughters, and a great-grandson to
be born in November and numerous other Mendoza
relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers
Chico Mendoza (RHS-1954) & Paul Mendoza (RHS-1958),
a sister Julia Mendoza Rodriguez (RHS-1963), a
sister Lydia Mendoza Wylie (RHS-1959), and his
wife Beverly Mendoza.
