RICKY E. HENSON, 44, was killed in an explosion
and fire at his residence near downtown Ranger, TX
on Jan. 30, 1997.
Henson was born on Feb. 1, 1953, in Ranger to
Dorothy Louise Burns & Robert LaRue Henson, and
was in the Ranger High School Class of 1971. He
lived alone and worked as a house painter.
He was survived by two daughters, Michelle Henson
Cherry (RHS-1990) of Palo Pinto, and Monica Henson
Stanley (RHS-1993), and two grandsons, John Cherry
and Michael Cherry. Also surviving are a brother
and sister, Randy Henson (RHS-1974) and Rebecca
Henson C de Baca (RHS-1976), and nephews & nieces.
His parents, Mr. Robert LaRue Henson died in 1976
and Dorothy Louise Henson lives in Ranger was a
nurse at the Walnut Street Clinic.
MOTHER: DOROTHY LOUISE BURNS HENSON,
75, passed away Jan. 31, 2007, with her family at
her side.
She was born on March 11, 1931 in Gorman, TX, to
Johnnie & Louise Burns. Her parents were peanut
farmers and Dorothy helped in the peanut fields
alongside her parents, often missing school. After
graduating high school, she moved to Ranger where
she went to work for Dr. Kuykendall at the old West
TX Clinic. In 1949, she moved to Ft. Worth to work
for Consolidated Aircraft Co., helping to assemble
wiring for the B-36 Bomber. She moved back to Ranger
in 1951, and began working at Ranger General Hospital.
She married LaRue Henson in June of 1952 in Brecken-
ridge, TX. In 1967, she went to work at Walnut St.
Clinic as a nurse, working for Dr. L.R. Gohlke until
he retired, then continued working for Dr. Philip
Webb until her final retirement in 2006.
Dorothy was a member of The Leon River Cowboy Church
in Olden, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband,
LaRue; son, Rickey Henson (RHS-1971); parents, Johnnie
& Louise; and brother, Johnnie Paul.
At the time of her death, Dorothy was survived by her
son & daughter-in-law, Randy (RHS-1974) and Linda
Henson; daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca (RHS-1976)
and Mike C de Baca; grandchildren, Michelle Henson
Yaeger, Monica Stanley, Heather C de Baca (RHS-1998),
Michael C de Baca, Bryan Henson, Sgt. Robert Nichols,
Tawnya Vier, Suzanne Olson, and Luke Seymour; 9 great-
grandchildren; brothers, James and Freddie Joe; sister,
Betty; a very dear friend not only to Dorothy but to
her family as well, Bill James; and her best friend
of 40 years, Pat Pockrus.
