WYNDLE DEAN HUGHES, 59, of Ranger, TX passed
away on Jan. 24, 2012 in Abilene, TX, with burial
at Evergreen Cemetery in Ranger, TX.
He was born on Nov. 2, 1952 in Ranger to Wyndle
Leroy (RHS-1950/51) & Margaret Goswick Hughes.
Dean attended Ranger High School in the Class of
1971 and was a drum major. He married Kayren
Oliver in April of 1979 in Beaver, OK. Wyndle
was a retired postal clerk/carrier and an artist,
working in wood, a musician, hunter, and fisherman.
He was also active in gun collecting and was a
competition rifleman.
He was preceded in death by his father: Wyndle
Leroy Hughes; sister: Vicki Kay Hughes Squyers
(RHS-1972); and his grandmother: Zora Lea Hughes.
He will be met on the Rainbow Path by his puppies:
Rudie Mac & Missy.
Survivors at the time of his death include his wife:
Kayren Hughes of Ranger; his mother: Margaret Green
and step-dad and special friend; Bob Green of Ranger;
a brother: Richard Ray Hughes (RHS-1972) of Ranger;
and his sweetest puppy: Valentine. Also surviving
are numerous nieces, great-nieces, nephews & great-
nephews.
MOTHER: MARGARET DEAN GOSWICK GREEN, 88,
was a wife, loving mother, caring grandmother, sister,
and friend to many. She passed peacefully Dec. 1, 2023.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents Fred
V. Goswick & Ethel Smith Goswick, first husband
Wyndle L. Hughes (RHS-1950), daughter Vicki Hughes
Squyres, son Wyndle D Hughes (RHS-1971), sisters;
Eula Mae, Mary Ruth, and Leona Marie. As well as
brothers Fred, Lloyd, Lester, Leon and J.D. and
great-granddaughter Koi Amber Dent.
She is survived by her husband Bob Ray Green, son
Ricky Hughes (RHS-1972) and wife Debbie Hughes.
Granchildren Richard Squyres, Amiee Baker, Carrie
Renteria, Rocki Hughes, Summer Webb, Jace Hughes,
Chris Hughes, and Brittni Boykin. As well as many
great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was born to Freddie & Ethel Goswick on Oct. 13,
1935 in Colorado City, TX. After graduating from
high school, Margaret met her first husband Wyndle
in Ranger and they married in Nov. of 1951. Together,
they had 3 children: Wyndle Dean (RHS-1971), and
twins Vicki Kay (RHS-1972) and Richard (Ricky) Ray
(RHS-1972). They purchased the Hillside Village
Apartments and ran that for many years. After
Wyndle deceased in 1977, she remarried to Bobby
Ray Green in Oct. of 1978.
Margaret was known by her Grandchildren as "Pudd"
and she loved taking them, on trips to Six Flags,
shopping at the mall or just driving around Ranger
and Eastland singing old country songs. She loved
to care for her grandchildren & great-grandchildren
and would take them in just as her own. They were
all a joy for her to keep and filled her home with
many blessings. She enjoyed a daily cup of black
coffee and German chocolate cake.
Margaret loved to travel all around the world and
would visit her sister Marie (RHS-1950) in Asia,
or take a family trip to Italy and many other
places. She loved her road trips with Bob to
Oregon where she enjoyed panning for gold. Margaret
owned and ran multiple businesses through the years
one of them being the Quality Grocery Store on Main
Street. She had an even cash register down to the
penny every day. She was a very proud Ranger resident.
For many years the Ranger community pool stayed
open thanks to Margaret Green. She became involved
in projects around town and ran and served as Mayor.
Margaret was an immaculate dresser and took pride
in her appearance. Her legacy of hard work and
service to others will continue. She was admired
and loved by many and will be deeply missed by
all. Pudd will be honored for all that her hands
have done and inspire her legacy she leaves behind.
