ADELA CASTRO ADAMS, 68, passed peacefully into
the arms of Jesus on Sept. 17, 2021. Her children
gathered around her bedside and held her hands as
she was called home.
Adela was born on Sept. 26, 1952, to Marcos and
Pauline Castro in Decatur, IN. She was the eldest
of four girls & loved each of her sisters fiercely.
Growing up, she was always the protector and the
one her sisters would call on whenever they needed
a helping hand. Adela loved gathering with her
sisters and their families for holidays and special
events to chat, reminisce, and have a good time.
There was nothing more special to her than spending
time with the people she loved the most. Adela
attended Ranger High School in the Class of 1972
at Ranger, TX.
Adela was the proud mother to three young men,
David Ray, Bryan Wade, and Mark Lee Adams. She
was always eager to share their successes and
accomplishments with anyone who was willing to
listen. She worked tirelessly throughout their
lives to ensure that her sons were well cared
for, had all that they needed, and knew that
they were loved very much. There was nothing
that Adela wouldn’t do for her boys. Despite
working long hours, Adela always made sure to
spend time with her children and be involved in
their extracurricular activities as much as
possible. She taught her boys the importance
of hard work and raised them to be confident,
independent, and humble men. There was nobody
in this world that she was more proud of than
her three sons.
Adela was known to most of her grandchildren as
“Nana” and “Gramadela” to a few others. She wore
those titles like badges of honor. She was so
proud to be the grandmother of Cagan, Marcus,
Calix, Logan, Aspyn, Grayson, Laken, and Silas.
Adela shared a particularly special bond with
Calix and Aspyn that will forever be remembered
and cherished by both children.
In her free time, Adela enjoyed spending time
watching Westerns with her dog, Cream, that she
spoiled absolutely rotten. She also loved doing
crossword puzzles and reading her Bible. She was
an active member of the First United Pentecostal
Church and enjoyed being involved in miscellaneous
church activities throughout the years. She loved
going to the different festivities held in Eastland,
Ranger, and Olden during the year such as Old Rip
and Roaring Ranger. She also enjoyed shopping trips
to spoil her grandchildren.
Adela spent many years working as a nurse’s aide
and thoroughly enjoyed caring for the elderly in
the community. She had a servant’s heart and was
always willing to go the extra mile to help those
in need. She also worked for the local school
district before her recent retirement. Working
with the children to help them learn and grow
brought her a lot of joy.
Adela will always be remembered for her huge heart
and her protective demeanor. She loved without
limits & she would stand up for what she believed
in, no matter the consequence. She will also be
remembered for how well she raised her children
despite the many obstacles that stood in her way
of doing so. She will never be forgotten and she
will always be loved.
Adela is preceded in death by her father and mother,
