TOY LYNN WELLS, 54, formerly from Odessa, TX
passed away July 30, 2014, with interment at the
Merriman Cemetery near Ranger, TX.
Toy was born Aug. 7, 1959 to Raymond Derwood and
Linda Sue Deason Wells. He attended Ranger High
School in the Class of 1978/79 and worked most of
his life in the oil field where he made many friends.
Toy’s best friend was Ricky Martinez from Ft. Worth,
TX.
Toy was preceded in death by his parents Raymond
(Derwood) and Linda Sue Wells.
At the time of his death, he was survived by his
brother Doyle Wells (RHS-1975) of Odessa, his sister
Brenda Wells (RHS-1976) of Ranger, brother
Alan Wells of Roanoke, Michael Wells of Colorado
Springs, CO, and Toy’s brother-in-law Joe Hendrix.
He is also survived by his children Ray Lynn Wells
of Gorman, Justin Wells also of Gorman, Dustin Wells
of New York, NY, Candice Wells of Cisco, Jarod Wells
of Lake Leon and LaVonna Wells also of Lake Leon. He
also has many grandchildren, nieces & nephews.
MOTHER: LINDA SUE DEASON WELLS died on Jan. 21,
2002. She was born June 19, 1941.
Life-mate of 45 years to Dewood Wells of Ranger, TX, and
mother of two sons Doyle Ray Wells and Toy Lynn Wells of
Ranger and one daughter Brenda Wells Oakley of Ranger.
Mrs. Wells was a Christian and member of First Christian
Church in Ranger. She was blessed with 19 grandchildren
and 16 great-grandchildren, nieces & nephews all special
to her heart.
Helping to raise three of her grandchildren and four other
children from Ranger that needed someone to be there for
them at some point in their lives.
She was born in Seminole, OK. She was preceded in death
by Charles Jefferson Deason and Dorothy Demoni (Grantham)
Deason beloved parents & Connie Kay Deason beloved sister.
Mrs. Wells leaves behind two brothers, Burton Clifton Deason
of California and Charles Thomas Deason of Odessa; also two
sister, Barbara Ruth Donovan of Ranger and Marcia Michelle
Matthews of Odessa. Three times great-granddaughter of John
Adams second President of the United States and John Quincy
Adams the sixth President of the United States. Selected as
Mother of the Year two times in Odessa, TX in 1982 and 1984
when her daughter presented the story about the children
she had helped out by offering her home to them and sending
them to school.
Over twenty-five years in income tax preparation & bookkeeping.
She graduated from Ranger Junior College with an Associates
Degree in Business and a member of the Phi Theta Kappa. Owner
and operator of Ranger Hill Truck Stop, Trader's Corner and
Debits and Credits in Ranger, TX.
She was instrumental in the approval of the Industrial Sales
Tax and Property Sales Tax in Ranger, Texas that has helped
bring added revenue resulting in new business in particular
(Love's Truck Stop) to help the town.
Mrs. Wells began the creation of the Texas Ranger Memorial
Park in downtown Ranger. thanks to the many donations and
the helpers this has become a great meeting place in Ranger.
She has friends from all over the world such as the Netherlands,
Australia, Canada, China, Caribbean Islands, Korea and all the
states in the USA. Many of these wonderful friends she has met
with personally and many of them have came to Ranger to meet her.
Many of them kept in contact with her via the Internet and the
telephone. Some called her on a day to day basis. She is known
to many as "Pythia" or to most as "Mrs. Boop"...but mostly she
has came to be known as "Ma".
