Grade School Graduation in 1959
Monday morning will see 50 junior high school students promoted into high school, 53 students at Hodges Oak Park and 32 pupils at Young School going from the fifth to sixth grade in graduation services in the high school auditorium. Junior high school students will graduate, following elementary promotional exercises which get underway at 10 a.m. All junior high students making a 90 or above in any subject for the year will be recognized by teachers in the services. Principal Charlie Garrett will hand out the diplomas. Playing the processional will be Glenda Wilson, an eighth grader. The invocation and benediction will be given by students. Honor students at Young School graduating into the sixth grade, are Judy Jones, L.H. Pounds, Ray Newnham, Tawana Nichols, Bob Townzen, and Bob McCleskey. All students have an average between A- (minus) and A. Honor students at Hodges Oak Park are: Robby Robinson, Bill Rushton, Larry Wilhelm, Craig Loper, Elaine Parsons, Pat Townzen, Barbara Dawson, Sara Cooper, Elaine Berger, Don Hartsfield, Celeste Scott and Jan Watkins. Principals O.C. Warden, at Hodges, and Morris Jefferies, at Young, will hand out the diplomas to the 85 students. Announcements will be made by G.B. Rush, superintendent. The class song will be directed by Miss Nichols, accom- panied by Celeste Scott. Catherine Stroud will play the processional and Jan Watkins, the recessional. Rev. Jack Barker, pastor of the First Christian Church will give the benediction. (Ranger Times)
