JOHN A. PIRKLE, 55, was killed in an automobile accident on a
Dallas freeway as he was traveling home from work on Saturday
morning, March 28, 1998. A semi-trailer truck towing another
vehicle was stalled in both South bound lanes of the highway
and a third vehicle hit Mr. Pirkle's automobile from the rear
and drove him completely under the truck. He was dead at the
scene.
Johnny was born in Ranger, TX, on July 24, 1942. He attended
school in Ranger, graduating from Ranger High School in 1960.
He attended Ranger Junior College and worked with his dad at
Strawn Motor Company until he went to work in Grand Prairie
in 1968. He later went to work for what then was Western
Electric (now Lucent Technologies) at their Mesquite plant.
He worked there for over 20 years. Mr. Pirkle was member of
First Christian Church of Ranger. Interment was in the Bullock
Cemetery at Ranger.
He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Bobby, one brother,
William Gaylon, and his dad, B.G. Pirkle.
At the time of his death, he was survived by his mother, Alberta
Windham Pirkle of Arlington; aunts, Clara Martin of Fort Worth,
Rosa Hatton of Ranger and Edith Daniel of Goldthwaite; uncles,
Henry Martin of Fort Worth, Tom Faulkenberry of Bracketville,
and Raymond Mitchell and Walton Daniel of Goldthwaite. His
mother passed away in 2001.
