JEFF THRASHER, 62, of Athens, TX died July 1, 2007, in
Athens, with burial in Athens Cemetery.
He was born in Dallas on Oct. 17, 1944, to his parents,
Jeffrey Dale and Rosemary McMillian Thrasher. Jeffrey
moved to Athens in 1991 after living in Mesquite for
many years. He had a 30-year career in telecommunications
starting with Southwestern Bell, then AT&T. He retired
from Lucent in 2000.
He was an active member of the Shady Oaks Volunteer Fire
Department. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the
Baptist Church. Jeffrey served in the United States Navy
in Vietnam.
Survivors at the time of his death include his wife of 24
years, Wilman Jean Thrasher of Athens; daughters, Amanda
and Samantha; son-in-law, Matthew; father, Judge Thrasher
of Greenville; sister, Barbara Blaydes of Dallas; sister-
in-law, Doris Allen and husband, Ronnie, of Paris; and
numerous nephews and nieces.
WIFE: WILMA JEAN THRASHER, 67, died Feb. 23, 2011, with
burial in Athens Cemetery.
Mrs. Thrasher was born July 7, 1943, in Little Rock, AR,
to Wilburn Oliver & Mary Trotter Haynes. She was preceded
in death by husband, Jeffrey P. Thrasher.
Survivors include daughter and husband, Amanda and Travis
Kees; sister, Doris Allen; and nephews, Roger and Roland
Allen.
