MELBA RUTH JACOBS HELMS, 70, went to be with her Lord on
Dec. 31, 2011 in Dallas, TX, with interment at the Hamilton-
Beeman Cemetery in Corsicana, TX.
She was born to Arvel Lee and Myrtle Elizabeth Jacobs on
Jan. 5, 1941, in Corsicana. She married John Thomas Helms
in November of 1959 in Dawson. She worked for 30 years as
a supervisor with AT&T & Western Electric, and then retired
from Lucent Technology. A loving mother, she enjoyed playing
softball, quilting and embroidery, taking vacations to
Galveston with her family, and being outdoors.
She was a member of the Shady Grove Baptist Church in Pursley.
She loved her Lord and family with all her heart and was always
kind and giving to everyone she met. She will be greatly missed
here on this earth, but remembered by all who knew and loved
her in a much greater way as we will always have her in our
hearts.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Randy Thomas
Helms; sister, Marie Chapman; father and mother in-laws, Douglas
and Ethelyn Helms; brother-in-laws Jerry Don Helms, Joe Michael
Helms, J.E. Miller, Olan Cox; and sister-in-laws Lourine Jacobs
and JoAnn Bryant.
She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, John Thomas
Helms of Dawson; daughters and sons-in-law, Darlene and James
Shannon of Buchanan Dam; Denise and Ronnie Green of Garland;
Donna and Terry Moran of Caddo Mills; and two grand-children
raised as their own, Jessica Kruse & husband, Joe, of Corsicana
and Ryan Helms and wife Holly, of Ennis.
She is also survived by five grandchildren, Samantha Kaye Moran,
Luke Daniel Green, Mary Kate Moran, John Lee Shannon, and Hannah
Marie Green, and two great-grandchildren, Thomas Lee Kruse and
Randi Annette Kruse. Survivors also include her eight siblings
and their spouses, Fred and Helen Jacobs of Mesquite; Eleanor
and Frank Greer of Corsicana; Bobby and Pat Jacobs of Coolidge;
Jerry and Dixie Jacobs of Melrose, NM.; Ray and Bobbie Jacobs
of Corsicana; Jake Jacobs of Corsicana; David and Michelle
Jacobs of Lampasas; and Sandra and Johnny Hughes of Corsicana;
sister-in-laws, Kittie Miller of Corsicana, Shirley Cox of
McKinney, Sandra Helms of Oklahoma, and Pat Helms of Vidor,
and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
