MURRAY AUGUSTUS ALLMAN, 73, passed away Nov. 26,
2007. There was never a joke Murray Allman had not
pulled out of an old hat, or a stranger he would
not hesitate to engage in a friendly conversation.
Murray was born Sept. 4, 1934, to his now deceased
parents, George & Ola Allman. He was raised in
Brownwood. Disciplined even as a boy in 1951,
Murray became an Eagle Scout, Boy Scouts of America's
highest merit honor. Growing up, Murray had a love
for music and took that enthusiasm and talent to
earn a bachelor's and master's degree in music from
Howard Payne University and North Texas State (now
the University of North Texas) respectively.
Murray worked with devotion as a high school band
director, photographic salesman & photographer. He
was music director at Ranger High School in Ranger,
TX for a short time in 1960. Later in life, he could
always be seen camera in hand at family gatherings.
He served for years in music ministry at church,
playing the horn and singing in the choir. Murray
carried a sweetness within him which could only be
explained by a love for God and His creation.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy Claudette Allman;
son Paul Edward and wife, Terry, of Carrollton; son
Carl Phillip Allman of Carrollton; his sister, Lina
Elizabeth Holland of Brownwood; four grandchildren,
Kristin, Michael, David and Hannah. Note: Both his
sons are now deceased.
