JERRY MALCOM JACKSON went to be with the
Lord on April 03, 2008, with burial in Macedonia
Cemetery, north of Ranger, TX.
Jerry was born in Edgewood, the home of his maternal
grandparents, Oct. 13, 1931 to Mr.& Mrs. W.R. Jackson
of Breckenridge. He graduated from Breckenridge High
School in 1950 and attended Texas Tech University.
Jerry was called to serve his country in Korea while
at school, but returned to finish his studies after
dutifully fulfilling his obligation to the U.S. Army.
It was at college where he met the love of his life
and wife of 52 years, Marilyn Rae Coleman of Abilene.
They were married in Lubbock in Jan of 1956. Jerry
received a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas Tech
University and a Master of Science degree from Texas
A&M University.
A life long farmer & rancher like his family before him,
professionally, Jerry was the Superintendent of Schools
for Moran ISD & Range ISD, TX before retiring in the early
1990's to continue his true interest of raising livestock.
Jerry raised cattle, sheep, goats and the occasional horse
in Stephens & Eastland Counties his entire life.
Jerry was a deacon at the First Baptist Church in Ranger,
served on the Ranger ISD School Board, the Ranger Historical
Association, helped raise funds for local students'
livestock sales, and shrived to lure jobs and industry
to Ranger. While a teacher and principal with Breckenridge
ISD, Jerry was heavily involved with 4-H and other community
organizations. His life was devoted to serving others, as
a soldier, teacher, public school administrator, and most
importantly as a wonderful role model for his family.
Jerry was preceded in death by his father W.R. Jackson, his
brother Dr. Bill G. Jackson, and his first cousin Joe Lynch
Jackson, who was as close to Jerry's heart as a brother.
Jerry is survived by: his wife, Marilyn Jackson of Ranger;
his mother, Maime Elise Jackson of Breckenridge; his brothers,
Joe Bob Jackson of Breckenridge and Thomas Jackson of Houston;
daughter, Vicki Olivier of Carrollton; son, Jerry Bradley
Jackson of Houston; daughter, Katherine "Katy" Jackson Jensen
(RHS-1983) of Commerce; and son, Jeffrey Jackson (RHS-1989)
of Plano. Jerry is also survived by his seven beautiful
grandchildren, Emily Olivier, Taylor Jackson, Claire Olivier,
Wesley Jensen, Jordan Jackson, Erin Jensen, & Zachary Jensen.
