Beef 'N' Black Bean Soup

1 pound ground beef
2 cans (14 1/2 oz) chicken broth
1 can (14 1/2 oz) diced tomatoes, undrained
8 green onions, thinly sliced
3 medium carrots, thinly sliced
2 celery ribs, thinly sliced
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 Tbl sugar
1 1/2 tsp dried basil
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp dried oregano
1/2 tsp ground cumin
1/2 tsp chili powder
2 cans (15 oz) black beans, rinsed and drained
1 1/2 cups cooked rice

Brown ground beef. Put in crock with first twelve ingredients. Cook on high one hour then switch to low for 4-5 hours or until vegetables are tender. Add the beans and rice; cook 1 hour longer or until heated through.

Cook's Notes: I used seasoned chicken broth (garlic flavor) and seasoned tomatoes (garlic & onion flavor).
