EVAN BOYD MCCOY Generation #3

Evan Boyd McCoy and his youngest son LeRoy McCoy

EVAN BOYD MCCOY was born in Mississippi on July 12, 1843. He died in Abilene, Texas on December 19, 1919. EVAN served in the Confederate Army during the Civil War, in the 35th Mississippi, Company E. He fought at the Battle of Vicksburg among others.

EVAN married #1. Fredonia Woods in 1865 but they were only married a short time when they separated.

He then married #2 Eliza N. Crabb and they lived in Kingsland, Cleveland County, Arkansas until her death in 1889. She is buried at the Camp Springs Cemetery, Kingsland, Cleveland County, Arkansas.

He then married #3 Talitha Cumi Fitzpatrick Wilson in 1891. She had six sons from a previous marriage, the youngest being three years old. Talitha died in 1905, from typhoid fever.

Evan then married #4 Amanda F. (unknown). They were only married a short while, when she died in 1908. She was known to have been a very good woman.

EVAN began teaching school when he was seventeen years old, and lived in Mississippi. He was a music teacher. He was also an active Mason until his death.
