Was neat to see Kristi do pairs skating with Denis Petrov.....and Jenni was great as the replacement for Katia Gordeeva(who had been originally slated to skate in this routine before she decided to take a year off from touring with SOI).
Kristi and Denis had a couple of run-thrus during rehearsal and we're in good rhythm....
...and Jenni lent her creativity to this trio.
This eerie concept with Gorsha, Ilia, Steven and Kurt in suits (Renee in a blue dress) and each wearing futuristic sunglasses. Each had a chair and the use of these chairs were outstanding. Torvill and Dean have to be commended for stretching their creative minds on this number....along with Sandra Bezic and Lea Ann Miller.
Ilia stayed out on the ice....while the other skaters left and Tara came back. After taking Ilia's jacket off and exchanging sunglasses from futuristic and modern day...
....the two Olympic champions skated to a jazz number using the chairs again. Now, when was the last time the current Olympic champions skated a routine on tour with either SOI or COI???? Good question....maybe in 1994, perhaps.....or in 1992 when Kristi and Paul Wylie were with SOI.
Yuka Sato reminds me of how Janet Lynn skated back in the 1970s. She is totally underused on this tour this year, but then again she was added as a last-minute replacement for Katia. Still, Yuka's style and choreography was on target thruout!
