Karim Dule (due-lay) Hill was born May 3, 1974 in Orange, New Jersey. The youngest of two sons born to Jamaican parents. He is a student of dance since the age of 3. He landed a role in the Broadway production of “The Tap Dance Kid”. He was a regular performer at the Minskoff Theatre for years. He was the understudy to Savion Glover during the production of “The Tap Dance Kid”. He worked with Harold Nicholas (of Nicholas Brothers fame) for 1 year and 4 months. During that run, he worked with Gregory Hines and Jimmy Slyde. Other musical roles included “Shenandoah”, “Little Rascals” and “Black & Blue”.
He also did commercials for Corn Pop and Apple Jacks cereal among others.
Senior year of high school arrived with his first major film role. He played young Roemello Skuggs in the movie Sugar Hill (1993). An earlier film role was Robert E. Lee in the movie Good Ole Boy: A Delta Boyhood (1988). He went on to do commercials and starred in the short lived (and rarely shown) City Kids as John (1993).
Taking a break from television to go to Seton Hill as a business major. Dule joined the cast of “Bring in Da’ Noise, Bring In Da Funk” with Savion Glover. He spent two and a half years (1995-97) with the show. He appeared in the TV movie-Color of Justice with Gregory Hines as Kameel. He was Young Donald in The Ditchdigger’s Daughters (1997). He became Preston in the movie She’s All That (1999) and appeared to have lost weight during the movie. He appeared in the Showtime movie-Love Songs (1999) as Leroy.
Before landing the role of Charlie on The West Wing, Dule appeared on Cosby, Smart Guy (1998), New York Undercover, Celebrity Poker, Mad Tv, Punk'd and Chicken Soup for the Soul (1999). The role of Charlie was not originally apart of the series. It took a boycott from the NAACP on all the networks to put him there. It made no sense for a President to have a staff without a black person.
He still dances and hangout with Freddie Prinze, Jr.
Other movies that he has appeared in are Men of Honor as Red Tail (2000), Holes (2003) as Sam, Sexual Life (2004) as Jerry and the mini series 10.5 (2004) as Owen Hunter.He married actress Nicole Lyn on July 10, 2004. She is best known for Deliver Us From Eva.
